I’m having a formal, black tie wedding. After being a bridesmaid ten times, I have decided to ask my attendants to pick out any navy blue long evening gown of their choice, with my final approval (can’t see myself "denying" any of their choices as they all have equisite tastes and are beautiful women). I want them to look their best and feel comfortable and confident, plus not constrict them to my vision or price range. This way, they could borrow, wear something they have or buy something in a price range they could afford. I’m not going to limit it to one designer because I want it to be affordable and also reflect their personal style. Thoughts? Any pictures from something similar?

I had a similar idea for my wedding! Since black was within the color scheme, I asked my girls to wear their favorite little black dress. My maid of honor (the saint that she is) was appalled that I would forego the tradition of bridesmaid shopping, and decided that we should go on an all-girl shopping trip to find the dresses. You would be surprised to find out that both the girls in my wedding party found dresses they loved at forever 21 for under $30. The best part is, they get to wear them again.

I found my bridesmaid dress at Nordstrom Rack, orginally 200 but were 40 each. They are my gift to them and since they aren’t really “bridesmaid dresses”, they CAN wear them again!
