I need some opinions from girls! For my bridesmaids, I would like them to wear navy blue dresses, and I was just looking on modcloth and they have a ton of adorable ones! And navy is looking to be a pretty popular color this year, so they should be relatively esy to find.
My question is, if the maids went out and bought all different dresses with different shades of blue, would that look horrible? Personally, I think it would be fine since it would only be an issue during the ceremony when they are standing close to each other, but would really like a second opinion.
Thanks in advance!!

LOVE Modcloth! Just wish they carried dresses in my size! 🙂 I too am doing navy dresses and letting the girls pick them (they have to be knee length and no sleeves (though straps are okay) are my only requirements). I think that if you say “buy a navy dress” that navy ought to be the same color everywhere you go. Or, that’s my thinking anyhow. But, even if they are slightly “off” of true navy, they’ll still look great! Good luck!

I am doing navy as well! 🙂 I am thinking you’ll be fine! Navy is usually, like rabbit said, the same wherever you go. I’m sure you’ll be safe letting your girls find their own navy dress. Good luck!

If I understand right, you’re just wondering how it will look if the different shades of “navy” end up looking a little different when they’re all together? I have to assume that the difference would be so small, people wouldn’t really notice. Also, I think if there is a noticable difference, it could actually be kinda cool. I’ve seen it done where all the Bridesmaid or Best Man wear a shade of the same color, and we actually considered this with blue before we settled on a color scheme.

I think it will end up looking just fine. Different ‘shades’ of Navy can’t really be too different from Navy itself, you will probably get ranges from an almost black navy to a lighter (but still dark) blue.
This was actually my original plan, but my BM’s vetoed the idea of picking out their own dresses. They wanted me to choose and to all wear the same thing. So I looked for a navy or just blue dress, but couldn’t find anything I liked at an affordable price.

Thanks all! I was sure it would look alright too, but was second guessing myself.

Have you checked out Dessy? They’ve got a great selection of navy/midnight dresses.
