I am not sure how to go about this. I still am 18 months out from my wedding but I want to be able to ask my bridesmaids in August and be able to say this is the dress. I have gone to two different bridal shops and both were very nice and took down my info. I don’t want to commit to anyone I want to explore all my options out there. Is it wrong for them to take down my info or should I tell them I am just getting ideas and don’t want to commit to buying from them. Do you think they assume I am looking other places for bridesmaid dresses? Also when I decide do I need to call and tell the other stores that I found dresses elsewhere?

I think its totally fine you are shopping around. You could always tell the salespeople that you have a couple more places to look after giving your info. You don’t have to call and tell them when you find another dress. Its like venue or wedding dress shopping, they take you info but you can’t choose them all! Have fun!!!

I guess I feel guilty because they have all been so nice and helpful! If they weren’t so friendly and helpful I wouldn’t care at all!

I used to work at a bridal store, don’t feel bad at all about shopping around because most people do. They take your information to partly help you (writing down colors or styles you like) in case you come back. After a while they may call or email to follow up and you can be honest if you’ve picked something else somewhere, but don’t feel like you have to call them. They’ll get the idea if you never go back. It is a normal part of that type of job, you help people and hope they come back but not everyone will.

It’s good to shop around and have options, I think most places are aware that brides do that, as brides can tend to me picky. No, I don’t think you’d need to call any of the shops to tell them you’ve chosen a dress elsewhere.
If your bridesmaids are paying for the dresses themselves though, make sure you’re somewhat aware of what they can afford, or comfortable with spending.
