I’ve seen a lot of bees mention that they’re using bridesmaid dresses as their wedding dresses. That gown could totally work.

Before I went dress shopping, I was seriously considering using a bridesmaid dress as a wedding dress.  (I was converted only because the dress I like was relatively inexpensive, and I didn’t realize how much support wedding dresses have built in which I appreciated).

That being said, I really like the style of the boxed red dress.  It’s a really great balance of simplicity and not-boringness, which isn’t a word, but I can’t think of a better one right now.  I can definitely envision it being converted into a wedding dress.  Or rather, worn as one. 🙂

Most of the Bridesmaid dress options come in White or Ivory or Champagne or better yet, if you dont want to wear white  you have color options! =) I’ve often thought to myself that some of these Bridesmaid dresses can be a bit flashy, for being JUST a bridesmaid, ya know?

I also strongly considered using a bridesmaid dress as a wedding dress. They’re affordable and no one would even know unless you told them. I say go for it!

Go for it! The wedding dress has no “rules”, as long as the bride stands out from the crowd and you get what YOU want, not what everybody else tells you to wear ! 🙂

The dress is beautiful, and far more eye catching than the wedding dress in the photo!

@mrsrowe  I agree that the bridesmaid’s dress is much more elegant and appealing than the actual wedding dress in that photo!

Definitely go for it! If you try it on and love it, that’s all that matters. I can’t see anyone sitting at your wedding thinking “OMG I think she’s wearing a bridesmaid’s dress.” haha.

@misskittykakes: Where is that dress from, if you don’t mind sharing?

The dress you chose is fantastic- I love the draping of the fabric in the front. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen beach wedding dresses that are similar to this style- I say go for it!

Edit: Sorry, Just saw this was a month old, so maybe you’ve already chosen…

I’m wearing Dessy 2810 in Palomino. Love it! I went to DB and a couple boutiques but it fit the best and it’s a style that I went back to over and over again. Plus, it was $280!

NDBee…I don’t know who makes the dress…I found a pic of it from one of those dress makers from China on Ebay…don’t know if I want to go that route though since I’ve heard both good and bad things.  Here is the link to the auction though http://cgi.ebay.com/Grey-Mermaid-Taffeta-Bridesmaid-Floral-Evening-Dress-/290582585624?pt=Bridesmaid_Dress&hash=item43a8126118   It is only $89.99 with free shipping so I might go for it.  Hope that helps!!
