Okay, to be honest, I haven’t purchased my wedding dress yet….but I’m obsessed with the new Maggie Sottero Divina. It’s perfect!! (Will order in ivory, not pink as pictured and with ivory bow, not jeweled belt)
My wedding is in Santa Rosa Beach, FL on the bay side (outdoors on a body of water but not on the beach) so it’s a little more formal than a beach wedding but not as formal as a church wedding. (Makes sense, right? LOL).My colors are pastel aqua and peach. I really love the J Crew chiffon dresses in dusty shale. I’ll let my bridesmaids pick which style of dresses they want, but for now I’ll just post a picture of one so you get an idea of the color.
So here’s my question. I’m worried that my dress will be too fancy for the bridemaid dresses I like and the colors I’ve picked. It’s my dream dress…I mean, come on, it’s stunning. I really like peonies, roses, & tulips for the flowers & centerpieces in shades of peach/coral/cream. I thought about changing the bridesmaid dresses to navy & accenting with pastel aqua and peach but I feel navy is too dark for an outdoors wedding, which means black is completely out of the question.
Oh, this is what the guys are wearing exactly (even the same tie!) Khaki vest, tie, & pants from J. Crew.
Do you girls think I should change colors? What do you do when your dream dress doesn’t necessarily match the rest of the wedding? Or does it all go together and I’m being a crazy bride whose wedding is still 11 months away? LOL

I think if the bridesmaids dresses are long instead of short then it will match enough. I don’t really think certain colors are more formal than others. But I always read long dresses as formal and short ones as semi-formal.
And the bride gets to wear whatever she wants. I don’t care if its a casual backyard affair, if she wants to wear a ballgown then so be it. That might not be the popular opinion but oh well.

Seems perfectly fine to me. Cute dresses!

i think they will look fine together! reminds me of my dress & bridesmaid dresses… fairly similar!

I think the way they are both rouched across the bodice makes them look really nice together!

I don’t really get the deal with needing to match the brides dress and Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses…I think the dresses you picked all look good together.

Oh, I hadn’t even noticed that!! Thanks!

OH MY GOODNESS…
#1: I LOVE that dress and it was love at first sight when I saw it on theknot.com!!! Is it weird that I kinda like the blush color? I would get ivory or white, but I really like it!
#2: I think the bridesmaid dresses will look wonderful with your dress!!! They both have the sweetheart neckline and the ruching. I don’t think they have to be the same fabric.
#3: MY GUYS ARE WEARING KHAKI LINEN PANTS AND VESTS!!! But I am having no ties and rolled up sleeves..Love it!!!

That wedding dress is simply stunning! I think the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses will go well for the same reasons PPs have said: the ruching & sweetheart necklines are similar. Very soft & flowy; perfect pairs!

You don’t have the wedding dress purchased, you don’t need to worry about the BMs dresses yet. Slow down! Maybe a little bit crazy, yeah.
I think the dresses look fine together btw, unless you’re having a black tie wedding. The Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses look like they’re the same material as the bridal gown pictured.
