Hi All, Just curious if any one on here had the same problem as me? My bridesmaids dresses were ordered as Allure 1267 in platinum ( silver grey colour) .When we received them they are a dark drabby grey with green tones!!! My colours are light grey, blush and white/ cream….
I am do not know what to do at this point… Should I sell them on kijiji?
Go back to the store and ask them to re-order but in a different colour and take the risk again? We are 6 months out to my wedding and it took 6 months just to get them in !!
I have luckily found a lady who will make the exact same dress off of etsy who lives near my city thank god.. she has a beautiful blush colour… so i am thinking of just forgeting about grey dresses and going blush… but then my girls are out all that money!! 240.00 for a dress that is the wrong colour!! Not to mention non of them fit and are miles too big for the girls!!
I need some advice as complaining to stores and getting my way is not my strong suit.. i know i need to go back there like asap and complain… but I just do not know what to say to them to proove that it is the WRONG colour!!
Thanks Bees !

Oh gosh, that stinks! How did you go about choosing the dress color to start with. Were there fabric swatches on hand that you were able to see? I’m just trying to think of how you could “prove” to the store that you were mislead about the color of the dress.
How much would the Etsy lady charge to make new dresses? It gets kinda tricky because as a Bridesmaid or Best Man, if I had paid $240 for a dress, there’s no way I could afford to buy another one. 🙁
Also, while it’s no good that the dresses are too big, bridal shops do usually recommend sizes based on a girl’s largest measurement to ensure that the dress doesn’t come in too small, with the expectation that it will need to be altered to fit. I don’t know if anyone ever gets a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress that actually fits perfectly. The only thing on the fit is that you could double-check the measurements that the salon took (which they hopefully have on file) and verify that the most appropriate sizes were ordered. However, I know that when I’ve been a bridesmaid, I’ve always been required to sign stating that I’m fully aware of what size I’m ordering and hence the fit isn’t the fault of the salon.
Do you have a photo of the dresses you received? That might help us think of some options for you too.

If it was the bridal shops error, they need to fix it!

If it was your error rather than the dress shop’s, take it and run with it. Adjust your colors. Your bridesmaids paid a LOT of money for your wedding and it would be like a slap in the face to just tell them they’re not wearing it, and ‘here’s the new option.’ Consider a grey, olive green, and turquoise color theme.

Sounds like it would be a bridal store error.. I mean.. I can’t imagine any color called platinum having greenish undertones! Not from what I’ve seen anyway.
I would contact them, or maybe try to figure out what color they actually gave you vs. what color you wanted.

@Summerlengyel87: just curious, what kind of lighting did you order them in and then see them in when they arrived? I have a coat I swear up and down I bought it green, but as soon as it’s in natural light it is deffinately brown and there wasn’t even the slightest hint of brown in the store (the store has florescent lighting as do most stores) maybe see one in the lighting you will have on your wedding day?

If the bridal shop truly screwed up then they should fix it without charge. If you just didn’t realize quite what color you were getting I think you just need to deal with it. Adjust some other colors if needed, but it probably won’t be nearly as big a deal as you think. Or get your girls new dresses and pay for it yourself. I definately would not recommend asking them to pay for a second dress.

First picture is what I received… second picture is another bee’s dresses in platinum…
huge difference… even in sunlight…

@Summerlengyel87: are those the same dress company/fabric, or just another bee’s picture of a platinum colored dress? I have seen “platinum” range from light silver to a taupey, dark grey on different websites.
If I were in your position, I would just keep the dresses you already have. That color will look lovely with blush and cream and your BM’s won’t have to pay any more. Maybe use a lighter grey ribbon to tie their bouquets.

They are not the same dress but they are the same designer (allure) .

@Summerlengyel87: I know its not what you were originally picturing, but here’s a few pics to show you that darker grey looks really nice with light pink and cream:

Those are alos lovely colour combos.. and it was actually my first colour combo I wanted but the allure colours dont have the dark charcoal grey, which was why we ordered the light grey. Ifnthe colour i had didn’t look green i would be ok with the darker shade. Even my bm don’t like the colour.

Oh my, that is quite green. Does the color match the swatch that the bridal shop has?

THANK YOU!!!! lol
I am not sure if it matches 100 % but i am thinking about taking the dress to one of my local shops that offers allure to see if it matches… the place we bought the dress from is in Toronto and we are 1 Hour away.
