Hi everyone! I’m looking for dresses for my bridesmaids, and am wondering if one of my choices is too similar to my own wedding dress.
Here’s my dress:
And here is the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress:
I have 6 bridesmaids and there are 4 grooms maids that will probably be wearing the same dress but in gray.
I like this dress because I think it will flatter the large variety of body types in my group (and it has pockets!). But I’m afraid it is too similar to my dress and will take away from its “wow factor.” We’re also having an outdoor ceremony (in September), and I’m not sure if all that satin will be too much! We have an appt at David’s Bridal later this month for everyone to try on dresses, but I’m not sure if I should suggest this as an option.
What do you think?

I LOVE your wedding dress…I do think the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses would be too similar though. I would go for a different neckline and material, personally.

nemo123 : I’m not sure I would even notice the similarity, but if I did, I would probably think it was clever that they coordinated so well. I don’t think there’s ever a risk of Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses reducing the bride’s “wow factor”. She’s the bride. Unless the BMs are all blinged out or they’re wearing veils and she’s not, that’s not ever going to be a problem.

I think the styles compliment eachother very well, and the bridesmaid dresses won’t take away from your dress at all!

I think that the cut of the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress is a little too similar. I would worry a little bit about yours standing out as much as you’d like (your dress is beautiful btw!!!) esp since the colors/fabric aren’t all that different.

I don’t see an issue here. Both dresses are gorgeous. It is very good of you to consider the BMs figure types, that the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress be flattering to all.
Nothing here that will take anything away from the Bride.

nemo123 : I think it can be hard to find bridesmaid dresses that are flattering to a variety of body types and the one you picked looks like a good one. While it is similar to your dress, I don’t think it’s that similar that I wouldn’t consider it, especially because they’re not going to wear white. I also do not think they would take away from your “wow” factor because they don’t have any beading on them. Don’t worry, everyone will know you’re the bride!
Where i like, a satin dress could be fine or could be uncomfortable for September. It can be anywhere from 90 degrees F to 50 degrees. Our Septembers lately have been on the warmer side but you never know. If you’re getting married in a warmer climate like Florida, I think they’d be a bit too warm.

I think the silhouettes compliment each other and that there will be no chance that anyone will be “distracted.” Personally, I would want my BMs to look and feel their best, which takes nothing exactly nothing away from the bride. If anything it’s the opposite since the dresses are also a reflection of your taste. Beautiful dresses. Yours is stunning. You have nothing to worry about.

They coordinate well together. Your vision will look very polished.

I think they will complement each other.

I don’t think any dress can take away the “wow” factor from the bride. That is not even a thing.
I also don’t think the style is a concern. I do think that all satin might be too warm for your wedding, depending on where you live. You’ve chosen to put yourself in that position, but if it is warm where you live, I wouldn’t do that to my nearest and dearest.

I think they match very well. I don’t think your choice of Bridesmaid or Best Man dress is in danger of taking the spotlight of you!

I would think that those bridesmaids dresses are very well-coordinated with the wedding gown.

I think the bridesmaid dresses work okay, but if you’re worried they might be too hot, maybe go with a shorter skirt? Go either tea or knee length and it especially wouldn’t look like the gown anymore.

I agree with most here. I personally love the bm dress you picked out (and pockets!! Woah!! Yes!!) I think it compliments your dress very well and also think it would go with most body types. I don’t think it will take away from yours, if anything they will compliment yours. Nice job!
