I’m currently looking for bridesmaid’s dresses, and I really want to find something that my girls will want to wear again. I know that most of the time, bridesmaid’s dresses go unused after the fact, and while that’s fine (especially because they’re not paying for them), I’d prefer to find something they like and will use for more than just one day.
I’ve come across two dresses that I absolutely love, but I wanted to check in with the Bees and see if these are dresses you would wear outside of being a bridesmaid. I know I would, but it’d be good to get some other opinions before I show my MOHs/bridesmaids.
They’re both by Adrianna Papell.
They also make dress 2 in a long version, which I’d consider, although I generally think short dresses are more re-wearable.
So Bees, what do you think? Would you wear these again? If you had to wear either of these dresses, which would you choose?

annb9: I voted both. They’re lovely choices!!

They are really great dresses. I like the bottom one better. I would wear both of them again.

annb9: I think they’re both cute and definitely would wear them again. My preferance would be the first one but I don’t think you can go wrong with either one:)

annb9: They’re gorgeous! I would definitely wear both those again, though the second probably has the edge for me.

1 looks a little longer and a little less low cut, so for me, that would be more practical. The neckline on 2 would be too revealing for me.

I’m a pear shape, so both of those would look horrid on my body. I’d wear it for your wedding and then donate it.

I think they’re cute, but I’m personally not a fan of the blousy effect around the waist, because I think it makes my large chest look larger. However, that doesn’t matter because I’m not your bridesmaid! I wouldn’t worry so much about if they can re-wear them. You’re bound to have some bridemaids that will wear it again and some that might not because it’s not their personal style. That’s fine. It’s great to re-wear bridesmaid dresses but I don’t think anyone who is in someone’s wedding goes into it expecting to be able to rewear the dress. If you’re really concerned about it, I would just ask them directly.

I would wear them depending on how they fit, but I really wouldn’t worry about whether or not they will be worn again.

annb9: i wouldn’t wear either, but I’d be more likely to wear #2…but that style of dress i find very unflattering on my shape…

I should add that all 4 of my bridesmaids have similar body shapes – thin and relatively (or very) small-chested, so I’m not worried about fit being an issue.
Glad to see I’m not alone in liking these dresses.

annb9: Neither of them is particularly my style – I’m not a fan of sequins. However they do both look like something people could wear again if that was their usual style!

Both dresses are awesome and would be easy to wear again, but neither would like great on a wide variety of shapes. If your girls are all the same shape as the models, I say go for it. Otherwise, that style is not friendly if you have even a bit of curve.
They’re both gorgeous, though! And thanks for being so nice to your bridesmaids! I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.

I don’t think dresses that billow at the waist are flattering on me personally, because I’m hippy with a small waist I’d end up feeling bigger than I am on the day.
But I do like them both a lot (esp. #2), and wish I could wear them. So I guess depends on the girls body-shape.

annb9: Sorry! Just read your replay about body types. I say go for it, then!
