It depends on the style of the dress.  If it is corsetted and lined I would order the next size up and have her rush alter the dress since sizing down those dresses are easier than sizing up.  If she can’t get it altered that fast I would suggest she bring her dress to the tailors with a C cup bra to try for sizing and make minor adjustments closer to the day.

Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much about it, she’ll figure things out I’m sure.  No one would want to show up to their friend’s wedding with nothing to wear.

OP, I understand your concern, but this is for your friend to problem-solve herself.

A boob job is not equal to a Bridesmaid or Best Man cutting or dying their hair. Why she thinks major surgery so close to the wedding date is a good idea is beyond me. I’m not saying OP should tell her not to have surgery, but a good friend shouldn’t put herself in this situation when she’s committed to being a Bridesmaid or Best Man.

ANYWAY…OP, its her problem to fix but I would encourage to either, get the dress altered with larger cups to fill it out AND if possible, order the dress in the next size up as an emergency back up.

Other than that, there’s really nothing more that can be done. Sorry it’s stressing you 🙁

I’d just like to add.. Everyone’s bodies are different so swelling can be more or less, depending on that person’s body and how they react to surgery. So your bridesmaid won’t know for sure what she will look like by the time of your wedding. I would buy the larger size just in case if she already *just* fits in the one she has now and there’s no room for letting out and it’s not a stretchy fabric. Hopefully the store would let you return it if it’s not used?

MrsAlexander16:  I am not sure what size she is getting but I had mine done over a year ago and I was able to recover relatively quickly and was able to fit in almost every outfit I had. It took a little for the swelling to go down and the implants were a lot higher than they will end up but I did not have to wear larger clothes. I was a 32B and went with implants that made me look closer to a full C cup (they measure bigger than they look), but I was still able to wear the small and extra small tops and dresses that I worse, I just filled them out better. Depending on how large she got them it may still be ok. Maybe she can try the dress on again but with one of the big padded stuffed bras just to see if there is room enough for largers boobs.

My friend who is a bridesmaid had a boob job a couple years ago, she’s very fit and her boobs are a size Dear Daughter and the DB size 4 dress was still large in her boob area. I was worried too about her having to order a bigger size bc of her bust but it fits and its strapless. Best of luck! I honestly think gaining weight in middle/back is a bigger concern bc other bridesmaid gaines some weight and its tight to zip up! shes been working out to fit in her dress, ugh!

A friend of mine had a boob job recently and her swelling went down within a week or so! She was very careful with it though. Hopefully your bridesmaid’s swelling will not last long either!

MrsAlexander16:  You’re welcome! And for what it’s worth, I think it’s totally normal that you’re concerned about your friend, especially that you specifically bring up not wanting her in any more pain than she might already be experiencing and feeling confident – I wanted all my lovely ladies to feel gorgeous and confident on my wedding day too!

I was very lucky to have a super easy and quick recovery but going into it you have no idea what to expect so concerns are natural. If this girl is a Bridesmaid or Best Man I imagine you two are close and have concerns, just as I do about my closets friends and as my friend did when I was in that spot. You were thinking of how you could plan now rather than wait for a potentially stressful situtation when it’s too late to do much about it…sounds a a reasonable thought process to me.

MrsAlexander16:  I think since she tried it on with a bombshell bra and she should be fine.  I have a boob job and I can fit into pretty much anything I used to wear with the bombshell bra and for reference I got 375 cc.  I don’t think I was still swollen at three weeks but they were definitely higher than where they ended up.  One thing to keep in mind is where her incision is going to be and if she is going to need to put something over it to be comfortable for the duration of your wedding day.

shortpockets:  I think you have a couple of options here, but the one that seems to give you the most peace of mind is to buy the dress one size up. However, I wouldn’t pressure your bridesmaid to purchase the dress if she doesn’t feel like she needs to. I don’t know, I’ve never had a boob job, so I can’t tell you what it’ll be like, but you’ve mentioned twice now that your bridesmaid thinks it will be fine. Leave it at that. I think you are the only one concerned about it.

My SIL was in a wedding last summer and she had gained quite a bit of muscle in the year since she ordered the dress. Long story short, she could get the dress over her butt no matter how she tried to put it on. This was a dress that DB tried to tell her could not be altered. She took it to a seamstress who altered it no problem. It required a little seamstress magic and, if you looked really closely, you could see the different, but the world did not end.

I don’t know if this is possible, but can you direct them to give a little extra room in the bust? That way if it is too much, you can easily take it somewhere else (if David’s won’t do a rush order) to have it taken in.

MrsMeowton:  I believe you meant for this to go to MrsAlexander16:  🙂

And good point on going to a seamstress not with DB. A good seamstress can do wonders!

I would probably order the next size up just to be safe if it could be returned. One of my good friends had a boob job and was supposed to go from an A to a C (what she asked for), but ended up a Dear Daughter.
