Best one I ever got was a gift card to my favorite store.  That’s what I’m doing for my girls.

The last wedding I was in, we were gifted Coach clutches, a $25 gift card to get our hair done, earrings for the wedding day, and a bathroom toiletrees set.  It was AWESOME…all the girls love the gifts.

I’m actaully doing almost the same for my girls but personalizing the gifts a tad bit more (handmade necklace, altered JCrewe belt, bridesmaid emergency kit with poem, sandals for reception etc.)–total cost about $70

I got earrings and a bracelet for my cousin’s wedding, and a beautiful necklace for my borther’s wedding. I know some people think jewelry is a dumb gift for bridesmaids, but I loved it!

    Best: $100 spa gift ccertificate.

Worst: hideous necklace that we were forced to wear with our dresses. I still cringe when I see those pics!

Best — simple pearl necklace & earrings (bride knew my tastes & I still wear them constantly!). But brides have always paid for my dresses, so I didn’t factor that in the poll.

I’m getting my girls personalized thigh flasks… however, my girls love their whiskey and I am positive that is a gift that shall be used for all future weddings. lol

Please, no more jewelry! I have been a bridesmaid five times over and I have come back with five new necklaces that I will never ever wear again.

I can’t pick one bc I’ve only been in one wedding and she gave horrible gifts and did nothing for us after all I did for her! I’m def learning from her mistakes for my own wedding.

I’ve never been in a wedding (Im the first of my closest friends to get married)…however one friend was in a wedding recently and told me how awful the jewerly was they got! It was supposed to match the wedding colors, but apparently was so “unique” that it was not something she could every really wear again.

I got my bridesmaid dresses as a steal ($40 a piece) from charolette russe. They are simple and elegant, and very summery, perfect for my laid back farm wedding. So Im gifting my bridesmaids with their dresses, hair & makeup the day of the wedding, a personalized tote filled with little goodies (toiltries, an “emergency” kit, flip flops, etc..), and a rhinestone monogramed robe personalized for each of them to wear the morning of as they get ready. I really hope they like their gifts!

As a tip though: if you have a large wedding party, the monogramed totes can get REALLY expensive. Most think they are a fun and somewhat frugal idea but I’ve seen versions that have costs almost $150 each! If you go with the totes, shop at little sales throughout the year…I just finished filling mine with full sized goodies from Victoria Secrets from the semi annual sale..and after caculating the cost of the bag from etsy, the gifts came to about $40 each!

@danicimp:  Well I live in the UK and here the bride is expected to pay for her bridesmaids’ dresses, hair and makeup, accessories etc. I’d be a little irked of someone was acting like all of this stuff was a wonderful gift, because it seems rude to me not to pay for stuff like this.

The best present I ever got was a bottle of my favourite perfume, as did every bridesmaid. I just thought it was really thoughtful as the couple didn’t have that much money. Plus, my favourite perfume is an Hermés one which I know was £70 and lots of the other girls just got £30 Marc Jacobs stuff. Nobody minded because it was their personal favourite but I still felt sooooo bad.

The worst present I ever got was a coat hanger with ribbon on it and some hideous jewellery.

@BridieBea:  Being a bride in the UK must get really expensive paying for all those dresses! I wonder if prices are much different for everything there? Coat hanger seems like a really odd gift.

I’ve never received jewelry as a bridesmaids gift. That might be kind of nice. I’ve been a bridesmaid three times. First my sister gave us little compact mirrors with our names engraved on them, my friend gave everyone flasks (five years later it is sitting unopened in my closet), the last time I was a bridesmaid the bride gave us all tattoos. Definietly different, but I love mine! Not sure what to get my bridesmaids yet. I like the spa giftcard idea.

@BriansBride:  I personally hated the jewellery I was given and I HAD to wear it during the ceremony because it would have been really rude if I hadn’t. I would stay away from stuff like that because it’s hard to buy jewellery that everyone will like and suit and if they don’t like it your BMs aren’t going to tell you. Spa gift cards sound nice, that way they can spend it on whatever treatment they want whenever and it’s more a gift for them than something wedding related.

And yeah, it is really expensive to be a bride in the uk! You have to pay for all of the groomsmen’s stuff as well, and flower girls, page boys etc.
