Ashley029:  shop for them individually like you would for their birthday. If one bm likes books get her something book related etc.

Ashley029:  I agree with shop like you would for their birthday.  Just to give you some ideas to get started here is what I’m going for my girls.

I made them all a tote bag to also act as the gift bag and I made them hangers with their names.  I also bought them all matching jewelry for the wedding.  and as not to be too self serving with their gifts I also am buying them each an individual gift in the $20-30 range.

My friend who is in med school- a stethescope cover

My friend who loves tea- a sampler of loose teas and a cool tea infuser

My firend who love painting her own nails- a nail art kit with fun brushes and instructions how to use them to create fun designs

and the last two girls are getting gifts that are more inside joke/ sentimental.  One is a t-shirt and the other a whistle necklace.

I just thought I would throw some things out there to get your brain going.  I know “shop for them like it was their birthday” isn’t always super helpful! lol  I struggled coming up with some of these ideas!  You would think it would be easy to buy for my closest friends lol

I had a post like this earlier this week and after much debate, I am just going to give them something different for their main gift, but then do similar little gifts. I figured it’s also more personalized that way, too.

For example, my sister (MOH) has SO many purses/wristlets/wallets that there is no point in getting her something like that. However, my Future Sister-In-Law (BM) barely owns any smaller purses (wristlets, mainly), so that would be something that I know she would appreciate getting.

Ashley029:  Hi!

Here is what I got my girls:

A large tote bag with their initials, a yoga/workout mat ( I am an instructor and all my BMs work out alot) that has their initials/monogram on it, a robe to get ready in the AM with me ( just a floral robe) and their wedding jewelery ( bracelet and earrings)

I spent about $70 per bridesmaid ( I have 6) If i can find a cute makeup bag on sale I might get them that as well but I might be done.

I tried to get them stuff that they could use after the wedding- ie no stuff that reads “bridesmaid”

Looking back, I wish I had gotten my girls more, especially my one friend who flew out twice to come to the bachelorette and the wedding.  I’m a jerk!  However I’ve since taken her to a couple concerts and gotten her lots of dinners when I was back in my hometown visiting.

I got necklaces for each girl as well as a scarf in colours I thought each of them would like.  I didn’t want to get them anything that was only useful for the wedding because that seemed like a waste of money to me.  I also got my sister a Coach purse because she was my Maid/Matron of Honor and did a lot of extra stuff to help out.

I love the idea of getting everyone a main gift, and then picking out something for them individually too.

So far I’ve gotten them: a chevron tote bag with their initial, a pair of silver flip flops so they can change after the ceremony if they want, a makeup bag from Elf, blush/bronzer duo from Elf (supposedly similar to the Nars orgasm blush and laguna bronzer), some sunglasses…I think that’s it. I’ve read a lot of suggestions to get them something that you’d get them for their birthday which I think is a fantastic idea. I just can’t decide what that might be for each girl yet. I’ve already spent around $60 each on them and I have 8 so I might just leave it with what they have. I also considered getting a different magazine for each girl to look through while doing hair and makeup the morning of the wedding.

Ashley029:  Have you purchased them birthday or Christmas gifts in the past? If so, you know what to get them for their bridesmaids gifts. Skip the matchy-matchy stuff and just find things that they will get enjoyment in after the wedding.

Buy them one nice thing that is chosen for each individual, considering their interests and taste. It will be longer lasting and more appreciated that a bag full of makeup, nail polish, etc that can add up to the same cost.

Not sure what your style is but customized Chuck Taylors would be really cute and unique.

Ashley029:  I did a bridesmaid luncheon and presented them with a monogrammed wristlet (I asked each one of them their preference on color.) At our rehearsal dinner I gave them matching jewelry I had made for them by a family friend.

I think I am doing a small Vera Bradley bag in our wedding colors (Canterberry Cobalt matches perfectly) but filling it with different stuff for each lady. My bridesmaids are: a 10 year old girly girl, a posh, glam college student, a Disney loving 25 year old, and a 30 year old “one of the guys” kind of girl. I really can’t think of one thing they’d all like besides the bag, so I’m buying different gifts for each.
