So, I’ve been batting around ideas for bridesmaid gift items. I don’t want to get them completely matching gifts, but I also work 80h/wk and don’t have loads of time to pour toward shopping for them.
I’m planning to give them:
1. matching robes for getting ready in the am (see previous post)
2. alexis bittar earrings. Let me explain. So, our wedding is outdoors, and I’m trying to make everything kind of, earthy glam. Their dresses are gray but not matching, and I’m hoping to find each of them a pair of not-matching-kind-of-organic-looking ginorm statement earrings for the wedding…and something they’ll wear to a fun occassion in the years to come.
3. a splurgey lipstick.
Should I add stuff? If so, what? I’m already clocking in at over 200 a pop with this version, and I have six frickin bridesmaids. Halp?

@ilovegreenbeans: That is more than enough! I think those are all lovely things and I wouldn’t add any more.

I think that’s plenty! I’m in the same boat, trying to find personal things without the time I do so. You could even skip the lipstick, I know makeup is a little iffy, unless you know what color/style they would really continue to use

@ilovegreenbeans: as long as they all like lipstick and you pick earrings that each girl would like to wear after the wedding I definitely think you have bought them enough. Personally, I would be happy!

Thanks girls. Phew. If you google search it, some of the bridesmaids gifts get really elabo, which is wonderful, but I’m a resident and barely have time to eat. I just don’t want them to feel jipped.

@ilovegreenbeans: Hey, that sounds a lot like what I’m giving my girls too! But I’m throwing in a couple of extra things 🙂 Here’s a link to my thread – lots of pics, and I’m happy to PM you links if you see anything you like:
Just to give you some ideas on things to add!

@ilovegreenbeans: Your gifts sound amazing! I would maybe suggest a sephora gift card or something instead of the lipstick just in case you’re not sure what sort of colours they like.

@ilovegreenbeans: I agree with pp about maybe getting a gc or something instead of the lipstick just for fear of them not liking the color. I think they sound like great gifts. I have heard that anything they are supposed to wear for the wedding should not be part of their gift, but I think it’ll be okay 🙂

yikes. and see, here comes the questions. Yes, the earrings are meant to be worn on the day, but I’m hoping they’ll be so beautiful that they’ll be happy to wear them again. BUT, because I am asking them to wear the earrings on that day, maybe they should be comp’d and not part of the gift….my ever-ballooning budget continues….
Do you guys think I should substitute the Alexis Bittar earrings with something cheaper, and then focus on more personalized gifts for them each? The AB earrings can run at least 125-200 depending on the design.
these gifts are AMAZING. where did you get those leather makeup bags??? That could be a great idea.
Thank you all for the GC suggestion. The reason I wanted to supply them all with lipstick is that my wedding is in the mountains and the air can get really dry at altitude, so I wanted everyone to stay moisturized. But maybe I’ll give them a nice, tinted balm–and then think of something better than makeup. UGHHHHH this is like…the most challenging part of my wedding.

Haha I got worried that my girls wouldn’t like their gifts, so I threw in a chocolate bar and now I feel like I have all my bases covered. 😀

Sounds good to me! I love Alex Bittar jewelry!

I love the earrings, that’s all I’d need- amazing. but do all of your bridesmaids like big earrings? (if so, I’d say you’re done w/just that). I’m not into robes and am particular w/liptstick and lip balms, but who cares if you’re giving those earrings. 🙂
