For those brides who are paying for your bridesmaids hair and makeup, did you give them some inspiration pics to go from when choosing their wedding day hair? I’ve told them it doesn’t matter to me whether they get an up-do, a half up-do, or wear their hair down, and I don’t want to force them to wear their hair a cetain way or anything…but I do want to make sure that 1) it looks at least a little bit different than my style; and 2) the style they choose kind of fits with the theme of the wedding. Is it appropriate to send them some pictures of the types of styles and the theme I have in mind? Or should I just let them pick their own style?
Thanks for the advice, bees!

did you figure it out? I am having the same issue. I am paying for their makeup but I told them that I didnt want heavy makeup (june wedding_ and now one of my bridesmaid is angry with me…What did you decide to do?? Cuz in my head if it’s my wedding and i am paying for it I should be able to give you at least a little bit of direction on what i do not want to see on my wedding picture.

I ended up sending my bridesmaids a few inspiration pictures, and also talked to my hair and makeup artists while they were working with me on our wedding day. I basically just suggested some styles to my girls in a really low-pressure kind of way (i.e. ‘the hairstylist and I were talking, and we were thinking something along the lines of these styles would fit in with the overall feel of the wedding’).
While the hair and makeup artists were working with me on our wedding day, I also just briefly touched on the subject with them too – basically told them the kind of look I was going for (and the kind of look I was NOT going for haha), and trusted them to steer my girls in the general direction that I was hoping for should the need arise. My girls were really low-key, though, so I didn’t encounter any issues with them…about anything, actually…they were pretty much the perfect bridesmaids!
I don’t think its unreasonable for you to have a general look that you’re going for…especially if you’re paying for their hair and makeup, I don’t think its unreasonable for you to suggest things to them. For our wedidng, I didn’t want anything too heavy or dramatic – we were going with very soft and romantic colors, so I didn’t want any bold lips or anything too over the top.

@kelly101212: Hi bride! I am a makeup artist. I’d probably print out a picture of YOUR desired look and give it to your professional makeup gal or guy & just let them no that anything too similar is not cool 🙂 You’re giving them tons of room to play with & I’m sure they will love it. xx – Aimee from Chic Makeup by Aimee
