Aww I’m sorry. That does suck. I’m not even sure if anyone in my bridal party will throw me a shower or help me with anything. I’m just excited they will be there on the day of to have fun with. But it really is a bummer when she has to leave for the whole summer. I would be so scared about the dress and alterations! Is there any chance that she can leave camp for a few days and come back? I suppose not.

What is a buck and doe?

I’m sorry she can’t come! You’re really going to miss her there, I’m sure! Concentrate on all the people who can be there though!

Aww, I’m sorry to hear that.  I hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised that somebody else steps up to take care of these things 🙂

Aww, that’s tough, but that was good of her to tell you right away. Also good of you to understand her need to take this job and be a supportive big sis! You will both work this out and on the day of the wedding this will all be looooong forgotten as you celebrate! Can you write to each other via snailmail? I know it isn’t the same or as immediate as email, but it might be fun to include her in design choices for whatever, sending her pictures of whatever you’d want her opinion on, or sending her photos of the cake choice or what have you. At least it is some form of contact/way to include her and be excited together for your big day. How wonderful to have a sister. 🙂 (I have 3 older brothers! Ha!)

@ontariobride: I’m sorry your Bridesmaid or Best Man is going to be gone during your special events. Looks like you buck and doe might work out before she leaves. It seems like you are understanding of her need to leave and do this and I just want to reiterate what a wonderful world the camping is. It can be life-changing for some. Many people meet friends for life while at camp, either working or as a camper. I worked in camping for years and it was hands down the most educational and maturing time of my life. Not only can you get back to basics with snail mail, like posted above, but you can send care packages too with fun wedding updates and if you are close to the same size try on her dress and send a pick of you in it.
