I;’m from Louisiana and we’ve never had one but that’s because we normally have just small weddings I’m from Rural North La I’m sure they take it to the extreme in New Orleans lol or another city

It might be a Southern thing but I don’t think it’ll kill anyone it’s a way of honoring your girls..I’m taking them the morning off for hair and nails plus we’ll eat pizza while we get all done up more fun than a stuffy luncheon.

And if the day of plan won’t allow for the salon trip we’ll still have my non-bach party by going to the bowling alley for a girls nite out you can honor your girls anyway you please

I hadnt heard of them before The Hive and Martha Stewart Weddings.  But, since I really like the idea, I am going to have one.

My mom seems to think we should have bridal brunch or lunch, but I can’t imagine where we would fit it in on wedding day, which is packed. Maybe the day before – I imagine it will be nice but not fancy. My mom grew up in the south, but hated it, so I don’t know if that’s something she absorbed from living there.

I think they are a southern thing because my Future Sister-In-Law did one and shes in Georgia. Future Mother-In-Law asked if I was going to do one and Im like umm I am already getting gifts and it seems like just another thing to spend money on! Instead the girls are all just getting together the day before to get our nails done!

My husband and I had a joint bridal party lunch on our wedding day.

They are not uncommon here in Houston.  I’m hosting one for my sister . . . mainly b/c her wedding party is all out of town and won’t be at the shower.  And, this way, they can meet each other before the rehearsal.

They are totally a southern thing.  My grandma (who lives in AL) is planning my bridesmaids luncheon. It will be my aunts, my mom, my grandma and my bridesmaids.

I had one and so far all of my friends who’ve gotten married (some from the Midwest, others from the Northeast) have had one too. Sometimes it’s just the bridesmaids, other times it includes female relatives, and sometimes other female out-of-town guests.

I think it’s a lovely tradition–some of my favorite memories from my wedding weekend are from the luncheon. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by all the amazing women in my life!

I have a ton of family from the South (Texas, Oklahoma, etc) and none of them have ever heard of that. It probably varies from one social circle to another, just like every other tradition.
