I had five, and one reader/ close personal friend who spent the day with us. I think it was the perfect number.

I been a bridesmaid a lot of times. All I have to say is it’s not fun being a party of a large wedding parties on the day of, just too much choas and people running around. Which is why I wanted s small wedding party because I wanted calmness on my Day.

@sarahroby:  having 5 (2 Maid/Matron of Honor and 3 BM). It usually depends on the size of your wedding, the more bridal party members usually the larger the guest count. Personally I feel any number is acceptable 0-8. Any more than 8 and it turns more into a circus and a stress fest- coordinating schedules etc. I mean even 5 or more is considered a lot (in my social circles).

We were going to have a Maid/Matron of Honor and 4 bridesmaids, and  a best woman and 4 groomsmen. We ended up without a Maid/Matron of Honor, so 4 bridesmaids. I would say 3-4 is probably best, 5 wasn’t that bad but I never did manage to get them all together at once.

@sarahroby:  I don’t think there is a “good” number. It depends on the scale of your wedding.

My reaction when I see a normal, middle  class bride with 12 bridesmaids is to think ” Now there’s a girl who can’t make a decision, or is afraid to offend any of her friends or relatives, so asked all of them to be in the wedding party”.

@sarahroby:  I had two maids of honor & my husband had two best men. We had no other bridal party. Honestly, it was the PERFECT number. I wouldn’t have changed it. I have no idea how I would have added any more without pulling out all of my hair. Plus, I really only wanted my most dear friends to stand by my side (you know, the ones that have been there for you through everything & will still be there when you are old and gray).

I agree with having 5 bridesmaids. It was the perfect amount of people to share in my big day.

I’m having 5 and i feel like that’s a ton.  We each started with 3 so moving up to 5 leaves us with a wedding party of 10.  They’re obviously all really good friends though so it should be fun.

No good number. How many girls are your closest? I could add more, but why? I want it small, really honor those who support me.

I was really between 3 and 5, and I ended up going with 5! It may be a tad big for my personal taste, but I just couldn’t keep some of my friends out of the party. Plus Fiance had at least 4 friends he wanted as groomsmen, so I had to up my girls to match
