I am thinking of getting bridesmaid robes now for each of my bridesmaids but wanted it to be surpirse if I did. Here is my question. I have each of their dress sizes so am looking at sizing charts to decide which Size range to fit each girl. Two of my girls would fall into a plus size robe size 1x/2x based on the sizing chart standards and the dress sizes they placed.
Do you think it would make these girls feel uncomfortable receiving a robe with this size on it? I know they aren’t in plus sizes in everyday life but according to the robes they would be. I really don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable and am just trying to be considerate of feelings Before doing something
What are your thoughts?

I’m a size 10/12, and if I got something that was a 1x/2x, I would be embarrased! If it’s an XL, that’s fine, but I don’t think of myself as plus-size. If a friend were to give me a plus-size robe (even if it fit the sizing standard), I’d definitely think she thought that I was fat. Which is probably true, but I would be a little hurt! Sorry!

P.s- I would like to add and clarify that I am not i plying there is anything shameful about being plus sized! I am strictly referring to the fact that if each of these girls does not view themselves as fitting in that size and receive it, mould it create an uncomfortable situation for them.

Thank you for your feedback and that is exactly what I am trying to avoid!! Bc that is the last thing I would want. Dumb american sizing charts!

Yeah an XL would definitely be okay! I buy myself some XL shirts and have no probs with that.
I’m kinda insecure about my body/weight since I put on about 10lbs post wedding. If your girls are confident and love their bodies I bet they wouldn’t have a problem with 1x sizing!

@bb1646: One thing to keep in mind is that dress sizes are usually a bit larger than their regular sizes. So they would probably need a size smaller than the dress size indicates.

ThanksThanks for the feedback. They are both beautiful girls!! I just don’t want to send the wrong message. I have no idea if they would even think anything of i. Or care. But I wanted opinions
p.s-size 10 and 12 you have nothing to be worried about. Everyone fluctuates now and then 🙂

Where are you getting your robes from? I got my brides maid robes custom made (at a very awesome price) and there won’t be a size on any of the robe as I am giving the measurements to the maker. If you would like me to give you the website or show you a pic. I’d be glad to.

I don’t get how someone can be offended over their size if it fits them. It is what it is. If you’re that worried about it, just cut the tags out before you give it to them.

As a plus sized girl I would care more about the sweet gesture of the robe than the size you got me. If it’s too big GREAT if it fits just fine GREAT!
I got robes for my girls and I’m not so worried that they’ll see what size I got them, I just want them to fit and feel loved.
