All my girls are picking their own shoes, with my approval.  They have the same fabric (seersucker green) but different styles of dresses.  I think it’ll look great and let the bridesmaids be themselves!

I told my bridesmaids to get silver shoes to go with their raspberry dresses. My Future Sister-In-Law was worried because the dresses are short and mentioned it a few times but it is one less thing I have to think about and I want my girls to get shoes they will wear again and are comfortable. I did find a pair I liked with a lower heel and sent them as an option just to help my girls out.

All my bridesmaids already owned gold toned/metallic shoes, so that’s what we went with.  Honestly, I love my stylish bridesmaids and they picked better footwear that suit their styles way better than I could’ve, and we got a cool photo too!

I’m doing the same thing! I picked out the dress and they can pick out their own black shoes…I don’t want to micro-manage and if you are ok with it than go for it! That way they’ll all be able to incoorporate in their personal style and be comfortable! : )

That is what I’m doing. They are wearing black dresses and I told them all to wear black shoes. The only thing I said is no flip flops for the ceremony, once we get to the reception I do not care!

I was in a wedding and we all had burgandy shoes and all just wore black shoes. This worked well as I was on a tight budget then and buying shoes wasn’t an option, so I wore onces I already had.

Definately! I just gave my BMs the boundaries of black or silver heels. It was much cheaper and easier since most girls have those colors already and don’t have to buy new ones.

Personally, I hate matchy matchy shoes, I think it’s nice you will let the girls pick their own in a similar colour and style 🙂  That’s the best way to go I think!  It looks really nice afterwards too and your girls will be comfortable, which is most important.

I didnt even tell them a color, they got their dresses and the rest was up to them… they had quite the variety too:

mine are picking their own.  it’s just 2 of them, and they are wearing matching cocktail length dresses.  I was a little concerned about it considering the dreses are short and the shoes will be very visible.  but I told them gold or cream/champagne colored (to go with a navy dress) and I sent them links of like 3 examples (to show color, not really style), and my sister/MOH decided to get one of those three.  the other bridesmaid hasn’t picked hers yet, so for all i know she’ll end up getting the same pair.  or she’ll get something else.  I told her which ones the Maid/Matron of Honor got, so she knows that, but it’s up to her!

do you happen to have a picture of your girls in the dress? I love the style for my wedding in september and their “royal purple” looks closer to blue in pictures – would love to see this color in a picture

@mariah2137:  sure!  here is one that i call “my sister-in-law is a giant and needed to get flats”, something else to keep in mind when giving them advice on shoes if your heights range a lot!  these dresses actually look almost black in photos, so not sure if that will help your vision since yours are more purple. in the end my Maid/Matron of Honor had metallic gold shoes like I told them to get, and my SIL had metallic taupe, really leaning more charcoal silver.  not what i asked her to get but totally worked anyway! I think the more girls you have the easier it is to do mix and match too.
