Hi All… Has anyone out there ever had a bridesmaid insist on buying a dress size smaller than they are? I’m a little worried because out of my 6 bridemaids, 2 of them are INSISTING on getting a smaller dress size. I had offered to pay for any alterations if they just got their regular size and lost weight but they both refused. Well that was 5 months ago, and now there’s 4 months until my wedding and my one friend has told me she just has “no motivation to try to lose weight”… and my other friend has actually gained a bit of weight (from what she told me). Still though, even though there’s time to reorder their dresses they’re both insisting on not doing so. Now, I know they both have 4 months still to fit into their dresses, but I’m concerned they’re not even going to TRY. And even if they do try, who’s to say they’re definitely going to drop a dress size? I had lost 30 pounds a few years ago, and the way I carried my weight, and where i lost it from, I didn’t drop a dress size at all! I partially voiced my concern to one of them (i’m a bit closer to her) and she keeps reassuring me she’ll fit into her dress “even if she has to starve herself a week before the wedding.” The thing is, I dont want her to have to starve herself…I dont want to have to worry in the weeks before my wedding that I may lose two of my attendents! I’m trying to show them support but I can’t help but be worried! I feel like they’re adding unnecessary stress to my last months before my wedding. Has anyone ever had a situation like this? Is there anything you can really do, except hope for the best? I’m sorry if I sound crazy or unreasonable. I just don’t want to lose them from my wedding party and it’s hard to talk to them about this because I don’t want to seem like i don’t trust them or have faith in them (even though if I’m being honest..I’m not sure I do).
