You can also check out stores that sell regular formal wear (not just bridal stuff).  When we were looking we saw lots of nice dresses from department stores and formal wear stores.

sistersequin :  I’m using Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dressse since theyre available at a lot of bridal boutiques across the country, but theyre pretty standard bridesmaid dresses and not quite what I’d call couture.

Nordstrom and Macy’s both have bridesmaid departments that you can view online.  Larger stores (usually in major cities) will carry at least some of the bridal line for your BMs to try on in store.  If you find something you like online, it could be worth calling up the biggest store by you and asking if they could get some samples in for your maids to try on.

So I know you said “couture,” but I’m a bridesmaid in a black tie wedding this November. The bride requested we all have floor length black gowns, but we can choose the style. Last night DB had a sale and I *almost* bought a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress I already have in charcoal, only in black, but held off. This morning she sent me links to dresses other BMs had purchased, and they were all from amazon! The most expensive one was $89! I read tons of reviews (with pics) and ended up buying a dress today for $36 with shipping. Seriously, you never know what you’ll find on Amazon – I’d check it out! I was pleasantly surprised and saved so much money. Well, I mean, we’ll see what it’s like when it arrives, maybe it’s a dud, but it has great reviews.

Here’s a purple satin dress I found on there that looks quite elegant and is only $60.

And this is the dress I purchased today

I second Nordstrom! My girls were the same way- spread across the country and one internationally. I went with one of them and hit all the stores we could think of. Davids and Alfred Angelo were the LEAST helpful- none of them carried burgundy (which I find odd) and the closest they could offer was “sangria” and it was purple and had a 19 WEEK DELIVERY DATE.

Nordstrom was 100% stress free and with off the rack dresse the only alteration needed was hemming.

Another reason to love Nordstrom? Their customer service is unrivalved! They do in house alterations and for anyone with a Nordstrom card I believe the first $100 in tailoring is on the house (this could have changed though so please look into it before taking my word for it). Also if the dress goes on sale they’ll honor the new sale price retroactively.

Not sure where all your ladies are located, but I used Bella Bridesmaids for my girls. (2 in Chicago, 2 in Denver). They are in a bunch of metro areas and carry so many different designers in all different colors. You would most definitely be able to find something you like there. If there aren’t BB in each girls town, you can at least order through them and the girls can find another bridal salon that carries that specific designer.

Good luck!

I need to follow this thread.  Same situation here but add in that one of the bridesmaids is busty.  Therefore she can’t wear anything strapless, one sleeve, low back, etc.  It makes it 10 times harder to find a dress!  I definitely want to try to avoid online because everyone’s body type is so different.  Dresses will definitely look different on them all.

I was thinking about Azazie though since they let you pay to send dress samples to your house.  However, I’d have to be strategic about that since a couple of the girls live many states away.  The others I can plan ahead to get them in the same place one day.
