@peachacid:  I’m so sorry you’re going through this 🙁 My mom is kind of indifferent to my wedding too and that’s been hard for me as well but luckily my bridesmaids have been super involved and helpful. I’m not sure what to suggest, maybe talk to them about it?

I think that texting isn’t the best way to illicit appropriate responses. When I had my first fitting, only a couple of my bridesmaids could attend. I sent a couple pictures to the ones that were unable to make it and got ZERO response (and these girls are the light of my life and so supportive). I was sad not to get the expected “ZOMG! YOU ARE GORGEOUS!” responses, but again, texting isn’t the best way. I ended up emailing the girls later with pictures and they all followed up…my Mom never returns text messages and so I ended up having to call her to discuss!

You don’t suck! Some people just don’t get it! I’m in the SAME boat!!! My mom doesn’t even KNOW I bought my dress (3 months ago) because everything else I had shared with her up to that point was “cool, look at my new purse *picture*” or “Neat, look at my manicure I got today *picture*” I even sent her a pic of my venue and got a picture of her new microwave cart back. So basically I just stopped sharing things. I figure when they want to know, they’ll ask. Not ideal, but it’s better than getting upset about it all the time.  I think some people just don’t know how to be supportive. I’m sorry!

What were the costs the Bridesmaid or Best Man mentioned? It sounds like youre having a Destination Wedding with a destination bachelorette? Plus dress costs, transportation, etc, that really DOES add up. I think she was respectfully trying back out.

People say it a lot on here, and I think it’s true – no one cares about your wedding as much as you do. They are happy for you, but THEY aren’t getting married. It looks like all theyre seeing are $$$.

Why don’t you go for drinks with your friend and not be a bride? Just be a friend. Ask her how her life is going, hows that guy she was seeing, school/work/kids/whatever. Its easy for brides to get caught up in weddingweddingwedding 24/7, but its annoying to the general population lol.

peachacid :  Wow, I’m sorry this is happening to you. I would honestly be upset if I sent a picture of myself in my wedding dress to my Mom and bridesmaids and no one responded. I mean, wow. I would hope that my Mom especially would be head over heels ecstatic for me. This doesn’t exactly pertain to your situation, but I actually keep a lot of the details about the wedding to myself. My bridesmaids don’t even know where the reception venue is and we booked it already. My closest friends do not even know the wedding date. Everyone will find out when they get the save the dates and invitation. This lack of information is purposeful because I don’t want input about what we are deciding to do for our wedding. After we got engaged, I had an avalanche of unsolicited advice, so when I realized this, I decided we would plan without discussing all the details much. Only my Mom and sister will see the wedding dress. The rest of the bridal party will see it on the wedding day. Just wanted to share some things I’m doing personally. I’m really sorry they aren’t over the moon for you. That truly sucks.

jellybellynelly :  The boards are weird sometimes. I commented on a post a couple weeks ago that I could’ve SWORN was recent. But then when my comment posted the OP said it was from years ago. I think sometimes there’s just a glitch in the system.
