I too “downgraded” my gowns becasue now we’re eloping with 2-3 guests!  I didn’t feel my all lace Casablanca gown with a cathedral train was right for an outdoor elopement in the mountains.  I do love my new gown better though.

How about Dessy for gowns?  I considered a few there.

http://www.dessy.com.  Click on Bridesmaids, sort by Ivory, then Chiffon.

If you’re a size 8 I have this chiffon one for sale:

I ordered a knee-length ivory bridesmaid’s dress for my wedding dress, and it was perfect for me.

It cost $300. It’s very similar to a “reception dress” or short wedding dress that I initially looked at that was over $2k.

Bari Jay has bridesmaids dresses that you can order in white.

Also I was in Davids and the have dresses that they advertise as reception wedding dresses. If I can remember the name of the line I’ll post it. My brain has gone a little numb.

I absolutely considered bridesmaid dresses when I was dress shopping, as I wanted something simple, not too frilly and most importantly, cheap! I ended up with a dress from The Limited, but I considered several Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses from Liz Fields, which come in white/ivory.

@Crazyhair:  Thank you!  It should be simple to hem as well, while the all lace one had an intricate lace edge.  I’m trying to resell that one too.

I am selling that JCrew gown I posted for $175.  I’ll even pay for shipping (if you’re in the US).

The label is a size 6 but it is far too roomy to be a 6, so that’s why I say 8.  I happen to own 3 of that dress in the shorter version in a size 6 and the long gown is totally different.

I LOVE this idea!! When I was looking for bm dresses I noticed Bill Levkoff had a number of chiffon dresses that can be ordered in white or ivory. I like style 113 but I can’t see the back in the picture. Also 114 has a band around the waist that can be ordered in a contrasting color to play up your waist. The back of the dress could easily be altered to be lower as long as you could find a low enough bra (or didn’t need one). My mom and I are adjusting the back of her MOB dress since the neck is WAYY too high in the back for her and it was super easy. Good luck!!

@Crazyhair:  That’s pretty!  The dress I was going to get for my reception is a bari jay but I ended up with an Alexia bridesmaid dress. Figured I could splurge on a reception dress since my gown was a gift from my grandma.

happy dress hunting!

My wedding dress is an ML by Monique Lhuillier bridesmaids dress! I wanted something super simple and it was just perfect. I’m 5’2″, so they’re altering the hem so it’ll have a little train.

My friend wore an Alfred Angelo bm dress in white for her wedding.  They have lots of styles and good prices.
