I intended to say “Here is the color, choose whatever you want from this collection that is long.” It ended up being that they ALL liked the same dress. So unintentionally they are matching. 🙂 Lol

Other-the dresses for my girls are all the same color and fabric by Priscilla of Boston and long but different styles.  One is one-shouldered and the other two are strapless but different.  I will also be having them with different kinds of accessories.  I want them to go together without being exact replicas-way too independant set of girls for that.

I was going to specify a length and a color, but then I realized that one of my two bridesmaids really likes to put the girls on display and I didn’t want the possibility of there being that much boob visible so I chose the style too. It looks really good on both of them though so it worked out.

I wanted to choose a color and a designer (or actually, just say “get x color from David’s” because DB is cheaper) and let them go, but when I told Fiance he nearly had an aneurism- apparently he thinks it doesn’t look elegant to have everyone in their own styles.  This is the same man that had a conniption over my idea to not have the groomsmen’s vests and ties match the girls’ dresses- I think it looks like they’re going to prom, but apparently in FI’s mind that’s the *only* option that looks like a wedding rather than a mishmash.

So I chose a very simple, easy to wear and inexpensive long dress.  Three of the five have tried it on, and it’s looked good on all three so far, so I’m relatively happy with it.  I still wish they could’ve all picked their own because I think they would’ve been happier.  I’m considering paying for the dresses in lieu of Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts, given that I chose them, although they’ve all told me they’re 100% fine with buying their own and with the price.  Ah well.

I gave them guidelines but they all like the same dress LOL. I wanted mismatched BM’s dresses too!

I picked the color (Matisse Blue from J. Crew).  My Maid/Matron of Honor came with me to a big J. Crew warehouse sale and we got hers and two for my SIL for $30 each (SIL told me what she liked in general and I got two that will work).  We couldn’t find a $30 one that fit what my last maid wanted, so I snagged a new one for $100 on ebay.

I bought four dresses for $190 and everyone is happy.  Whoo Hoo!

I asked my 2 BMs to wear a black dress that wasn’t too revealing. They both chose dresses they already had, and I’m happy with both of them. 🙂

I picked out everything:color, style leanth, and they chose nothing!!!

But becasue I didn’t give them a choice I wasn’t going to make them pay for it, so I bought the dresses for them.

I only have 2 bms, so it was doable cost wise

I think it depends on how  many bms  you have

I’m telling them a color (purple) and letting them pick the rest. I did tell them I would prefer short (bcuz my dress is short) but really they could wear whatever they wanted!

Oh, and it can be aby color purple: lavendar, eggplant, violet, true purple.

I picked that i’m letting them choose, but really they get to choose between four dresses that three of my six bms liked.

3 bridesmaids. I said “shades of green–avoid lime– and knee length, on the casual side, and something that you’ll wear again.”
