It depends on your party to be honest. I personally am comfortable paying $300ish on a dress but not everyone is.

My girls are paying $170 for theirs. I would see if you can find something cheaper, but definitely ask all of them and be realistic. You know your friends…can they afford $260 for a dress that they’ll likely only wear once? It’s different for everyone.

Also, you could consider getting replicas made? Lightin the box is used quite a bit as is Babyonline on DHGate.com

This seems to vary based on your location. I could not find anything for less than about $200 (give or take $20) and none of my girls were comfortable with online.

I agree you know your girls if they can afford it then fine if not look for something different. I am letting my girls Choose their dress. Of  course final decisions are made by me but this  way you get a general idea what they are willing to pay. If they can’t afford it no one is going to pick a $300.00 dress they are going to wear once and mostlikely be uncomfortable the whole time. Or just ask them if they are your closest friends they will be honest.

If you really feel bad sit down and talk to your friends and come up with a good price together so once you see one you love no one can be upset with the price of the dress.

I’m aiming for under $150 before alterations. I have all recent grads though so I’m sure they want to spend as little as possible.

ETA: Keep in mind any other costs for them. Are you asking them to buy specific shoes, jewelery ect? Do they have to pay to get their hair/makeup/nails done? Will any of them be travelling for you wedding? Plus prewedding parties and gifts. It adds up pretty quickly.

I paid for my sisters dress (my only bridesmaid) and stupidly didn’t set a price limit. So she came back with a $179.00 dress. Which is a lot when our total budget is $3500 and my dress only cost $180.00!! But at least she’s happy and FI’s suits for his two brothers cost that much each so I guess it’s not too bad. I would say talk to them and see what they are comfortable paying. They might be completely happy to pay that much.

You should have a look at For Her and For Him, which is the online store i got my bridesmaid dresses from. I had 4 bridesmaids, and i bought the dresses when they were having a big sale, 20% or something off. So i only spent a bit over $500  for all their dresses. The dresses turned out to be of very nice quality, way better than we ever expected. There was only one dress that was a bit too big on one of my maids, we had it altered in a local tailor’s and it costed us an extra $40. Overall, i am very pleased with my purchase with them and you gotta check them out!

My Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are from J.Crew ($250). I was able to order them 25% off which came out to around $200. My Bridesmaid or Best Man are paying me $150 so I’m helping them with the cost some. If you are able to help them out, then it’s a nice gesture.

My dresses are $150 a piece, except for one, because we have to get it in plus size, so it’s $175. We’re paying for his two younger sister’s dresses, because they’re 13 and 15 and we dont expect them to pay for their dresses, and I’m going to be covering part of my girls’ dresses, so they’re all $100.
