I’m new to posting but not to this site. This has been an incredible wealth of information as my FH and I are planning our wedding. We are getting married in September and our colors are Chocolate Brown, Orange and Ivory. We are getting married in a botanical garden and having the reception in an historic bungalow house that is on site. We are not traditionalist. My dress is antique ivory and it has a vintage feel with a modern cut to it – at least thats how I feel in it. 🙂 I will be even carrying a brooch bouquet! The men have been outfitted in chocolate brown suits with the groom sporting all ivory and the Bridesmaid or Best Man and Groomsmen with pale orange shirts with striped ties. For the bridesmaids, I wanted them to wear pencil skirts with ivory blouses. I’m a classic girl and I like classic everlasting looks but it proved last weekend that it was a distaster trying to find an ivory shirt to go with the chocolate brown pencil skirts. My Bridesmaid or Best Man couldn’t be any different in terms of body types.
So now, I’m revamping my vision and seeing how I would be a nervous wreck ordering from somewhere that would promise me 6-8 week deliver – it is not going to fly. I found this lovely apricot dress in silk dupioni dress. I’m wondering what your opinions were on this?

I think it’s super cute and it seems to kind of still have the same look/style that your original idea had of the pencil skirt and white blouse… it’s a single colored dress now but still kind of has the same kind of “look” I think. I like it!

That’s very cute!
If you are still wanting your ivory and brown dress, you should look at David’s Bridal or Alfred Angelo’s. It’s really popular to have two tone dresses right now, so you can probably find something close there with a vintage feel!

I love this, it is classic, moadern and fresh! Definitely could be worn again.

i think it definitely has the semi corporate look that the pencil skirt n blouse would have looked like so its stil within the same style range. love the color n the fabric

Awesome! I love them – they look pretty flattering too so if you have different shaped BM’s as you mentioned then they should be happy.
Can I ask what the style number is? I love the pleats

That is what I am thinking! They will all make them look tan and it is a flattering a-line type of dress. My Maid/Matron of Honor is busty so the V-neck would compliment that. My other Bridesmaid or Best Man is 6 foot tall and skinny – super model type body and I think she might carry this off well. My other Bridesmaid or Best Man is short with a semi round middle which correct me if I’m wrong, it will draw attention away from her middle. They all have great legs. 🙂
I saw this dress and I’m all like wow – thats different but so classic. My Maid/Matron of Honor feels that it looks like a 1950’s housewife though. The dress can be found over at Anne Klein. No waiting! 🙂

The dress is great – and, it doesn’t look like a “bridesmaids dress” so your ladies can wear it again!!

I think it’s cute and it seems like the classy you were going for. I say go for it!

Very nice the colours work well together 🙂 Nice choice

I actually think that the dress will work better than the pencil skirts and blouses. The dress is gorgeous and the colour is a perfect match to the groomsmen. I think had you gone with the skirt/blouse combo your ladies may have looked too matchy matchy with the men.
Your wedding party are going to look stunning! Congratulations! I’d love to know what shoes are your ladies wearing…?

I definitely like it. Your Maid/Matron of Honor will get over it. I was recently in a wedding, and hated my bright orange dress until I actually wore it and saw the pictures of me in it! You just have to explain to her that you’re really pressed for time and everyone on the weddingbee says it’s great!

I absolutely love that dress. I’d totally go for it!
