I went bridesmaid dress shoppng for the first time yesterday with my two girls: Sister and Best Friend. I asked them to wear whatever dress they liked, as long as it was the same color (chocolate brown.) Thought this would be an easy, fun shopping trip. Ohmigosh. It was worse then trying to find my dress!!
Sister is about a size 14, and looks great in everything she puts on. She found a few favorites right away. Best Friend is a bigger girl and is also trying to get pregnant, so we need to find a dress to accomodate an expanding stomach. We couldn’t find much. Not to mention that one shop pretty much only had samples in 8’s and 10’s, so the girls couldn’t even get some of the dresses on! (Props to David’s Bridal for having samples in all different sizes.)
The girls were so sweet: being very concious of making sure their dresses would compliment each other and my dress, as well. When we finally found a couple front runners, the shop pulls out fabric swatches and we realize the dresses are from different designers, so the browns won’t match!
As this point, I feel so bad for both girls. They were such troopers yesterday, even after trying on dozens of dresses. I don’t know what to do. We talked about possibley having a dress made for the Best Friend. And part of me thinks, who cares if the browns don’t match? Or I was thinking about changing my colors and havng the girls just each wear a black dress. Argh. I know this issue isn’t the end of the world, but thanks for listening to me vent. And if anyone has gone through something similar, I’d love to hear about it!
