So I thought I had picked out the dress I want my girls to wear. But the company has now released three more dresses in the same color, just a different fabric, and now I can’t decide what to do! I have four girls, so I could put all four in a different dress. Or do I put them all in the first dress I fell in love with.
We’re having a vintage wedding, based all around my grandmother’s wedding dress, which I’ll be wearing. So we’re going for an early 50’s feeling, classic yet not cheesy. I don’t want it to look like a costume party. So which dress do you think fits the vibe I’m going for? Should I put them all in different dresses? Or all in one dress? Which one? AHHH I can’t decide. And i’m not asking my maids, because I will get four different answers, and I’m just not dealing with someone being unhappy with not getting it. So I am making the choice. So don’t suggest that haha.
This is the first dress, which I was orignally going to put all my girls in.
These are the new dresses, all of which are satin, whie the top dress is more of a cotton sateen. They are all the exact same color, even if they don’t look it in the photos.

I love, love, LOVE the second one! It look so classic and timeless. I think that if you’re going for a more subtle and classic reference to the 50s, this dress is perfect! It definitely fits that era and context, but without being over-the-top or cheesy, as you said. I think the other dresses feel much more literal in terms of the 50s, if that makes sense.

I’m a big fan of mismatched dresses, so I’d mix em u.Howe many bridesmaids are you having? Dress gorgeous by the way!

@parasol: The second dress was actually one of my orignal dresses, but in black. But then my mother threw a fit about the bridesmaids wearing black, and I turned to the purple. I abouslty love it. I think it’s my favourite of the bottom three.
Do you think the top one is too “costume-y”? Like I said, I don’t want it to look like we’re playing 50’s retro wedding, it’s more of a classic vintage feeling, for lack of a better term. I hope I’m explaining it right.
@Indecisivebride2012: Thank you! I’ve got 4 maids, so I could put each girl in a different dress. My only issue is that the one dress is not the same material, and I wonder how the satin would photograph. If it would be super shiney or whatever. I would put my Maid/Matron of Honor in the top dress if I go that way, and the other three in the mismatched satin dresses. Do you think it would look ok with the different material?

The first and last seems a little more ‘party’, the second one is gorgeous, (my fav), but the 3rd is also beutiful too! I don’t think you could go wrong!

i love the 1st and 4th ones

The first one is my favorite. I like that the fabric is not as shiny as on the other dresses. I also like the bust the best. There’s not too much extra fabric up there, (which has a tendency to make busts and arms look bigger). And I love the criss cross of the sweetheard neckline.

I love all four! Where are they from? If you’re worried about it photographing differently, pick the dresses that come in the same fabric and let the girls choose the one they are most comfortable with. They are different but similar enough to look cohesive. It’ll be gorgeous!

I’m not partial to satin myself, and style-wise I much prefer the first one. I think 2, 3, and 4 are a bit too puffy for me. I have hips, so I think about this!! I lovee #1 I feel like it’s gorgeous without trying too hard!!

Thanks for all the opinions. I still haven’t decided, and I think I’m going to put it aside for a bit right now. It’s not the most imparative thing I’ve got to deal with. I might ask my girls their thoughts as well.
All four dresses are from Unique-Vintage.com! They have all of them in red, and most of them in black as well, but the eggplant happens to match our colors perfectly. All of them are U-V exclusives as well.

I like the first one because the sweetheart shape top and fabric is not shiney. The others are still very pretty though. Either way, they will look great.

You seem to like the first one the most. Why not pick that and then get the top altered so you have 4 different necklines? Sweetheart, thick straps, spaghetti straps, cap sleeves…etc
Looks like it would be pretty easy to do!

I like your original choice, but I don’t like satin. If we’re just talking about the style of the dresses, I think I like *scrolls up to look again* …still the first one. I like the sleeves. It’s similar to the last one, but the first is the best.

Also, can I ask where you found these dresses? I’m looking for a purple dress for myself 🙂
