I will try to keep short. My daughter and I along with her Maid/Matron of Honor order bridesmaids dresses from a “UPSCALE” salon in a posh area. The dresses are couture and very very expensive. 5 months (unfortunately even high end dresses apparently are made in China) they come in, are sent out from California to New England and we start hearing how the color is dreadful, a pale flesh tone, not pink. I finally see one a week later and am stunned. Not even a dye lot issue. Just way off.
I call and talk to the store manager. She says she has many orders of this popular color and no complaints. She says she compared it to in store sample and it is indentical. No. Not possible. The Maid/Matron of Honor who lives locally to the store didn’t pick up her dress but saw another girls. She calls the store and manager gives her the same store. Finally the owner calls me and admits there is a problem. It is the liner that is different, completely changing the color from pink to ….I don’t know what. She is certain this couture important company will help us but it is late. Of course it is fashion week in NYC so they are all busy. She offers to try and change the liner. Well, these dresses were $$$$ and have boning, rouching, etc, and can’t be torn apart. Who knows what the outcome would be. She agrees there is a problem but keeps saying she will call back. Waiting to hear from expensive high end designer hoping they will step up for us. We keep calling her. Well 10 days now, it is Friday night. No call.
Everything is done. Mens ties, boys bowties, invites, menus, napkins, flowers and flower girl dresses, absolutely everything goes even the signature drink and bridesmaids gifts. Except beigh doesn’t come into the mix at all. Do we do a charge back and order something from a department store? I hate to do that. I would have to cover some of the girls because of the costs of fighting the charge backs. I don’t want to do that but I can see where this is going. We are getting down to the wire if new ones will be ordered. They carry other high end lines in similar color or we can select a brighter tone of pink and keep the same dress (my daughter’s preference).
What would you do? I don’t want to be ugly but this is not a dye lot issue, this is a factory really messed up issue.
