I recently bought a few formal dresses (two for our engagement shoot and one for my brothers NYE wedding). Two are floor-length and I bought them at Macy’s. The other is knee-length and it came from David’s. When we were at David’s Bridal I saw a whole bunch of dresses that I also saw at Macy’s (exactly the same, not just similar). While the regular pricing was the same, the sales made the Macy’s dresses a fair bit cheaper. The one I bought from David’s I actually purchased right off the rack. I think it was about $150, which I also thought was very reasonable.

I honestly think you’ll have the most success at David’s because they have such a large selection and they’re all pretty affordable. Just pick a colour beforehand and let your bridesmaids pick out the style.

Ive looked at allure some, and have found the floor length gowns to be closer to the 250 range. I haven’t found anything with as many options and as reasonable prices as DB, although I’ve also been looking!

Also, yes, I believe David’s will ship to any store. Call and ask to be sure! You can also try on in store then order online 🙂

My sister used David’s Bridal about 7 years ago and we had a good experinece. I also got my wedding dress there and also had a decent experience. I would also try department stores, since you all live in the same state, you may be abel to get a sale and buy off the rack, so cheaper and faster. While shopping for dresses with my Mother-In-Law for her dress (for my wedding), I noticed that a lot of the dept stores carried a lot of the exact same dresses, so you would not have to limit yourself to one store either. The stores we looked at were Carson’s, Macy’s, JC Penney and Sears.

I wasn’t impressed with the quality of davids. I found our floor length bridesmaid dresses at Nordstrom for $134, they were 50% off. They are Dessy brand and cost full price on weddington way. I’m sure I could have looked for a coupon for a slighter better discount. If you shop around then you can find some great deals at macys and nordstrom and the quality will be better for the price.

We are going with Allure bridesmaids. We looked at David’s but they did not have the right colour. The dresses my bridesmaids picked were 250 Canadian. The store have us a 20% discount so they became 200 a dress, so unfortunately more than the budget you are hoping for. The quality is excellent.

Our second choice was the special occasions line by Christina Wu. They had some lovely floor length dresses for around 150-200 (again Canadian dollars, so probably less in USD).

How many bridesmaids do you have? Several shops I looked at offered discounts if you purchased four or more.

Good luck with your hunt!

I had such a fiasco with my bridesmaid dresses! At first I was going to have them all pick a dress within the color range I sent them, but it proved too difficult, then David’s bridal told us that since we did not order 4 months in advance, they would not get here in time (even though that is for custom tailored ones I was later told). Anyway, we ended up going with Nordstrom dresses! I think they worked out well and even though they bought online for sale pricing, one was sent the wrong dress but it was no hassle and they sent the correct one out right away!

I forgot to mention J Crew- they have very pretty bridesmaid dresses and often have a sale on them. A few months ago they had a glitch in their system that added another 15% off on top of a 20% discount on sale dresses. They cam to under $100.

CapnKT626:  i had my david’s bridesmaid dress shipped to another store. i’m looking at floorlegnth too, and it’s about $159 for the style i like. alfred angelo’s has similar pricing but to be honest, i wasn’t happy with the quality or fit of the bridesmaids dress i got from there, and our store experience was terrible. i’m sure it’s different everywhere, but i won’t be going back there for my bridesmaids. you can also try mori lee or bill levkoff they might be a little pricier but they make great dresses.

I ordered my bridesmaid’s dress for my BIL’s wedding last week. I tried it on at the store in the bride’s city and ordered it local to me. It was a good experience but I only saw a handful of dresses under $150. Only 2 of 10 that I tried on were under $150, most were $159. The floor length ones were at least $179, the bride actually ended up picking a floor length stretch satin gown for us that is $199.

The wedding is on Sept 6th, and the latest arrival date it can be here is August 4th. I’m just making it within their “4 weeks prior” alterations policy or I’d be paying extra for “rush” alterations.

CapnKT626:

Look at Mori Lee, we carry them at the boutique I work at and for the most part they are all under $200 (except for some of the all over lace ones)

I would skip Allure I remember them being over $200 for long dresses.

I love David’s Bridal dresses not just because my wedding dress came from there but because the prices are fair and you have a large selection to choose from. It’s worth a look. I really think it depends on the employees that you work with at the bridal shop and how they care about you and their job. Shop early.  I went to David’s Bridal and found a dress. I decided to order my wedding gown  online  from DB’s site and have my dress taken in for alterations later on. I’ll see how they do then. My bridesmaid is looking for a dress and she’s looking at places like JcPenny, and Macy. I told her to go for the best price even if it isn’t David’s 🙂 I know DB have a few bridemaid’s dresses online for 49.00 – 79.99  but I don’t know if you can get them at that price at the store or how long it would take to have it shipped. It made be a gamble at that price.

Mori Lee bridesmaid dresses are gorgeous! If they had my colour I’d have gone with them in a heartbeat.
