Is it too much to want your BMs to wear the same style of a dress (they are all thin and will look good in everything)? We will go together to store and pick something that is within the price range they are comfortable with.

nothing wrong with having them all in the same dress! go with whatever you want 🙂
color-wise, i think mismatched dresses seem to work better and make more of an impact with larger bridal parties. i only had 3 girls. my 2 bridesmaids wore the same dress in the same color and my maid of honor wore a different dress in the same color.

@lilchicana: +1. We all went together to pick the dress. I knew I wanted long coral chiffon dresses. This REALLY narrowed the choices down. I only liked 2 dresses they had that matched what I wanted so the BMs wore one style dress and the Maid/Matron of Honor wore a different style.

It is all about what you want! Originally I was adamant that I wanted my girls in different necklines (same designer, same color, and same frabric, but different top styles). I found that all the bridal party photos that I was saving had maids in diff dresses. My girls are out of town, so I sent them to a salon near them and they sent me pictures of all the dresses I had earmarked online for them to try on. I basically said as long as I liked the dresses, they could pick which ever ones they liked. Once I got the pics though, I realized how much it would bug me that they were different… This one’s waist was higher, those pleats were different, etc. It drove me batty. After seeing the different dresses, I decided that I wanted the uniformity of one dress. And, as my MoH said, “Bridesmaids are supposed to be like furniture… Just stand there and look classy.” Lol. And my girls are all tall, skinny, and blonde, so in my opinion they look great in everything!
Ideally, I wanted them in the same dress with different neck options (one halter, one with straps, one strapless, and one one-shouldered), but I feel like that’s too much work so we are just going to go with all strapless. 🙂

They’re all choosing their own dresses in fall colors. So far, of the eight, we have two dark purples, one burgundy, one brown and one copper. One’s considering dressing in pants and a button-down shirt and the other two haven’t decided — I think that they’re both thinking red, though one was also considering yellow.
