@jessicaandjames5914:  why couldn’t the tall girls wear sandals with short dresses? My bridesmaids are and it looks great 🙂 Are you worried about everyone matching perfectly? Sometimes it looks better if its not too too matchy matchy imo

I’ll say it again. I tell everyone: ModCloth.

It doesn’t have to be 100 dollars and come from a bridal shop to be a ‘bridemaids’ dress. Think out of the box when you are looking.

EDIT: and think hard about WHY you need everyone to ‘match’ – could everyone wear the same shades and get a dress they are comfortable in? Think of it as them being there to support you on your big day and less like a wall that you can decorate. This helps to free up how you think about dress options.

@jessicaandjames5914:  My Maid/Matron of Honor is barely 5’0″ and my tallest maid is about 5’7″, but we were able to find the same dress that looked great on everyone (my Maid/Matron of Honor had to get her dress hemmed, but that’s it).  I think it really depends on what style you go with and the best way to figure it out is to go shopping.  You never know how different styles look on people until you have them try it for themselves.  My maids and I scheduled a Saturday and hit 9 bridal stores, and I basically made them try on every style possible to narrow it down (ended up buying off the rack from David’s).

Also, when I was Maid/Matron of Honor a few years ago for one of my gf’s, we wore matching gold flipflops with short dresses and we looked awesome!  And it was sooo comfy.. I was very thankful that she let us go with such casual footwear.

@jessicaandjames5914:  You’re welcome!  I hope it all works out for you 🙂  We approached it similar to wedding dress shopping.. just because something looks good on paper, doesn’t mean it’ll look good on the body.  It was actually really fun at a couple of the stores because we purposely tried on outlandish dresses and we made a day of it.
