Hi Bees
I’m trying to decide what to get my Bridesmaids for their gift. I have been a bridesmaid a few times and agree with most that you don’t always get something you like/will use again. Jewellery to wear on the day is fairly standard in Australia but from reading posts on here, it seems that people don’t really think it’s a gift because of so many different tastes (i’m having 5 bridesmaids!). I’m getting married in the UK and don’t really know protocol in this country yet…
My BMs range in size from US4 to plus size so little tops with sparkly ‘Bridesmaid’ written across it are probably out of the question. I have got a brooch for the dresses (diamante leaf to match the theme) which was going to be the gift but I’m now thinking I need to get something else, maybe some embroidered dressing gowns instead?
My question now is what to embroider? I’m tossing up between ‘Bridesmaid’ on the back, their initial on the front; or just their names on the back; or something altogether different – all suggestions welcome in the comments below.
Hoping that all you wonderful bees will help me decide – thanks for helping a stressed out Bee!!

@swanchai: I have decided if I do the robe to just do their name or initials and probably on the front. Idk if I personally would wear something again that said bridesmaid.

I would do their monogram instead of their name and agree with PP, if it says “Bridesmaid” it is for the day of and therefore not a gift – when are they going to wear it again? They don’t want to think of themselves as “Bridesmaid” constantly.

Robes were part of the gift for our bridesmaids and I just did their first initial on the front. They loved them and I know at least some of them wear them.

If you give them something that says Bridesmaid then it can only be used for the wedding day. In that instance it wouldn’t really count as a gift since it has no possible use outside of your wedding. Jewelry is fine as long as it suits each girl’s tastes and style and can be worn again. Go for just their name and they get to use it as long as possible.

I would just do first initial or first name. Last names may change 🙂

If you do the dressing gowns the first name is a good choice for embroidery. It would be nice to get different colours/patterns though so they are personal to each Bridesmaid or Best Man.

I like first name, and I also got my girls coach clutches (which they loved) if you’re looking for another idea. They were on clearance at an outlet mall so ended up being $40 each. 🙂

I think robes with their first initial on the front would be really cute and wearable past the wedding day. I’d love to get that as a gift!
I think the brooches sound nice, but if it’s something they have to wear for the wedding, I don’t really count that as a gift. They might never wear them again.
