Cute! I did handmade totes also (well, hand painted, lol) and filled them with snacks, candy, and water for the day of so nobody gets hungry/thirsty. I also made them tanks and pinned silk flowers to them (just to wear while getting ready) for fun.

Real gift for bridesmaids: I made pearl/swarovski earrings and bracelets and my mom made their dresses. For Maid/Matron of Honor, a basket of hair goodies and a pro curling iron in addition to the aforementioned items. Helper/guest book friend got a necklace that i made and a nice bottle of liquor. I couldn’t do this for my BM’s b/c not everyone drinks, and I know this particular friend loves unique specialty liquors.

I love that you’ll pick jewelry unique to their personality. You could do compacts, too. I find those incredibly useful and I"d LOVE to have a special monogrammed compact to keep in my purse 24/7. Beach towels are a good idea, too. I realized that I do NOT have a beach towel and most of my friends don’t have a good one, either! April’s a good time to obtain one bing right before summer and all =].

Here’s my list of things that I’m either getting/making my girls or was going to do before they got cut from the list:

Freshwater pearl and garnet necklace and earrings (homemade)

Clutch a la Mrs. Peep Toe

Pashmina

Stainless Steel waterbottle

Flask engraved with their initials or monogram

Umbrella

Mix CD

And put in a vintage leather suitcase instead of a gift bag.

I am getting my BM’s a gold necklace with pendant from Swavroski. They are really reasonable I thought for $65 each. They also have sets that include the pendant and matching earrings (sets come in silver as well as gold) for only $100. You can find them on the website.

Those water bottles are a cute idea! I kind of wish I’d gotten my BM’s a really cool gift that they’d want to keep forever after, but I’m hoping that the fact that I didn’t make them buy a dress is sufficient.

I can be overly generous and I have to keep reminding myself that it isn’t necessarily the fact that they spent a lot of money on me that I should take into consideration, but the fact that I saved them a lot lol

I love what everyone is getting their BM’s! I am giving each Bridesmaid or Best Man a clutch purse (that matches their Bridesmaid or Best Man dress) filled with 3 lip glosses and bobby pins, and hair spray.

I also bought my Maid/Matron of Honor a really nice travel makeup brush set.

I wish I could do more for them, but my budget is so tight… I hope what I got them is enough.

For those of you who made jewelry with Swarovski pearls, do you have any pics or tips? I am trying to make bracelets, and I tied knots inbetween each pearl. I liked them….until I got to the end! I don’t know how to "finish" the bracelet. I tied some knots to attach the clasp, but the thread came undone. I can’t think of how to finish them. Help? (Sorry to hijack the thread.)

I guess I’ll write what I got them so I actually answer your question!! 🙂 Um, let’s see. Tanks with the rhinestones to spell out Maid/Matron of Honor, Bridesmaid or Best Man, Flower Girl, etc. The bracelets, if I ever figure them out. Pearl stud earrings. Necklaces from a huge sale at marc + pearl ($125 necklaces for $11ea). I am making bouquet charms for their bouquets, but not really counting that as a gift since the florist will have them. I still want to get something else. The clutches are so pretty, on etsy. Two of my 3 BMs are way into purses. The 3rd is a teacher and new mom, so she needs a bigger purse, haha.

The tanks were $5ea on sale. The bracelet supplies add up to <$10ea. The earrings were like $2 (I made those, too.) The necklaces were $11. So I’m up to <$28 per girl. I know it’s the thought that counts, but I should get them something more.

ejs – Definitely don’t feel bad about that! I have a feeling that if you were to poll bridesmaids they would all prefer to not have to buy their dress over getting little somethings. And I’m with you on the overly generous thing, it’s SO hard to stick to the budget! I’ve been constantly trying to nudge it despite the fact I haven’t tried to do that with any other wedding purchase.

Here’s the bracelet I made. I went kinda simply b/c mine is really flashy and i felt they should not be wearing too much bling =]. I used a type of clasp that they interlock, then snap together. I can upload another pic when i get home.

Oh, i know they’ll be happy with the fact that I literally SAVED them about $150 easy. I just "feel" cheap because the material of the dresses cost $25 and my mom spent a few hours on each…but still. I look at the cost and go "eek!" and feel like a cheapskate. I just want to shower them with the bestest gifts ever. Believe me, if I’d asked them to drop $150 on their dresses…my goodness, I probably would have bought them all diamond earrings or something!!! It’s jsut that a little here and a little there adds up fast so I have to remind myself what I’ve ALREADY spent! I forgot I did bouquet charms, but i feel like that is for my own aesthetics ha!

Here’s what I got my bridesmaids:

 1. Single freshwater pearl necklace on silver chain with stud pearl earrings
 2. Kate Spade clutch in green
 3. Reef krysal flip flops (green for Maid/Matron of Honor and black/gold for everyone else)
 4. Monogrammed robes
 5. Sole Mates (heel savers) – since our ceremony was outside in a field

I think they really liked everything!

Personally as a bridesmaid the best gifts I got were fun and practical. A wedding I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man for the bride bought us all mani/pedi’s the day before the wedding and we went all as a group. It was a ton of fun. All our nails looked great and it was fun..

Another wedding I was in the bride paid for all the BM’s to get their hair done. We all went together and it was a really fun time as well. I was going to have my hair done anyway, so it was nice to have that taken care of, one less thing to pay for 🙂

Other then that I like stuff that is useful. I have also received jewelry to go with the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses we had…. I never wore the jewelry or the dress again.. Just not my taste.

For my bridesmaids, I am paying for their dresses and shoes and also giving them jewelry – necklace, earrings, and bracelet to wear that day.

I’m getting each of my girls a charm bracelet w/ 5 charms on each one. Each charm is symbolizing something about us, an experience we had, or something they love. I will write a note to each girl explaining the symbolism of each charm, I hope my girls like this because I LOVE my idea & put alot of thought into each charm I picked 🙂

I’m planning on doing some sort of necklace with blue Swarovski pearls but I could use some inspiration too if anyone has aready made a necklace. I don’t know what else yet, thinking about a pashmina for warmth and I love the flask idea, typically a gift for the boys, this could be a lot of fun for hte girls too. I already bought them all flip flops so they can be comfy on the dance floor.
