I am getting married at a resort that has a salon located right inside. However the salon is a bit on the pricey side. The only problem is, it’s the only decent salon around for my hair and the bridesmaids hair the day of the wedding. Their website says it costs $65+ for a "special occasion updo." The only other thing I’ve asked the bridesmaids to purchase is their dresses (about $85 per girl.) My parents are paying for their hotel rooms both nights and my mom and sister are paying for my bridal shower. I’m not having a big bachelorette party, just a nice dinner with the girls that again my parents will pay for it. Plus I am paying for the makeup to be done as part of their gift. Do you think it’s unreasonable to ask them to pay $65 for their hair? I appreciate your opinions!

I don’t think that is unreasonable, however, I would give them a heads up about the cost of using the salon beforehand so they know what it is.

$65 is what three of my bridesmaids paid for their hair. My other bridesmaid (my sister) went to her own hairdresser and I don’t know what she paid. The only thing i would be worried about if I was you is the +. Are most updos only $65? Or are most more than that? What criteria would make one girl have to pay more? Those are important things to consider since prices can quickly skyrocket.
But yeah, I don’t think you’re being unreasonable at all. People understand when they agree to be a bridesmaid that they’ll be expected to get their hair done and it sounds like you have already gone above and beyond in making sure that they don’t have to spend a fortune.
