It was not my wedding, but I stood up in a wedding that had black dresses.  The bride got us all pearl necklaces and earrings, which I absolutely loved and still wear all the time usually at least once a week.  This wedding was 3 and a half years ago.

I wish I had pics but I recently went to a pretty formal wedding where the colors were black, red, white, and gold.  The bridesmaids wore floor length black dresses and I think a red (like dark rose red) accent in their hair.  It was stunning.  I would have done something similar but she beat me to it! lol

This is my sister’s wedding, I was one of the two MOHs (on the left side of the bride). Having black bridesmaids dresses was the BEST!!! We had endless options for dresses as practically every dress comes in black, and we were able to wear black shoes, and since they were long dresses, the bridesmaids didn’t have to wear matching shoes, so we were all able to save money and energy by wearing the most comfortable black shoes we already own! Overally her colours were black, white and red and it was a classic, gorgeous look!

@MsGinkgo:  I always think it looks classy and elegant.  I think it looks especially good at a super formal wedding.

My girls wore black. Black is simple and classic and can be dressed up any number of ways. I told each of them to pick a black dress around knee length. They each picked separately and yet they all worked together.

I don’t have a picture of my black bridesmaid dress, but in one wedding we wore floor length black bridesmaid dresses… It was SO comfortable and the skirt part was pleated (it wasn’t quite satin because it was lighter, but it had a slight “shine” like satin) and it flowed like WATER… it is so elegant. I wore it to a high end event that I just went to!

If you do go with black, do your best to pick something that all your girls LOVE, but I feel like there is a very very very good chance they will wear it again! After all don’t we all need a LBD?

I think bridesmaids in black is so elegant. At my wedding I had my husband’s sisters and my sister wearing ivory, my bridesmaids in navy and my mom and his mom in black. (My culture does things a little differently as to who wears what and why, just in case the above info. seems a little different.) I had my husband and his family (dad, brother and my dad) wearing black ties, and my husband’s tie was black with ivory. My mom just got remarried this past Thursday and my sister and I both wore black dresses.

@MsGinkgo:  I loved all my girls in black it looked so good…and it’s a flatering colour on everyone. I let all the girls pick out their own dress with some guidelines.
