Why won’t she wear a dress?

It might be easier to find a pants suit via Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdales or Saks and then bring that to a bridal shop to either match it to a bridesmaid dress or to a seamstress who is willing to buy the fabric and make dresses to match. In all my searching for bridesmaids stuff…I didn’t come across many pants suits (there are a lot of matronly ones in the Mother-of-the-Bride sections, but I can’t imagine that is the look you are going for)!

You could always look online at custom suit stores. They could probably do it.

I think a nice suit at a department store would be the way to go.  Maybe you can get her a button-down or a scarf to match the color of the bridesmaid dresses.

@aldono:  What about wide-leg silk pants with a fitted top? My mom wore an outfit like that for a big event a few years and the pants almost looked like a skirt and it was beautiful!! She got it at Nordstrom, can’t remember the brand though.

One of my BMs also doesn’t want to wear a dress… We have been talking about her wearing black pants with a long top, possibly a wrap or tunic style in the same colour as the other Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses.  But incorporating a sash or wrap in the same colour is a nice tie-in as well.

@aldono:  I think this outfit might make her look a little bit dated and older. What about pants that match the groomsmen and a long pretty top in the same fabric or color as the women. What is her body type?

Normally I hate pantsuits or jumpsuits, but the one girl from 90210 always wears killer ones that are not old fashioned at all! With a photo you might be able to ask a skilled seamstress to make one for you. Here are a few of my favs:

Not sure of your location and your local stores but some places that I shop at that are not super expensive and have pantsuits in ‘younger designs’ in basic colours (black, charcoal, grey, pinstriped and sometimes brighter colours) are:

-Zara
-Suzy Shier
-Armani Exchange
-Le Chateau
-Club Monaco
-Chloe
-Ricki’s

You best bet might be having a suit custom made for her at a tailor.  You can then control the color, fabric, and style.

With that body type, she could probably wear a lot of things, but definitely not anything too swingy or wide. She will be swallowed up by anything too loose.

Maybe it makes sense to see what she wants to wear exactly, what she usually wears to formal events. If you really want them to match though, I think no matter what you will have to go the custom route. You could always order fabric to match the bm dresses and then take it to a custom tailor.
