binks24 :  As a bride, I don’t care what color or type of shoes my bridesmaids wear for my wedding.  Their dresses are floor length so I figure no one will notice them (even if someone did, it wouldn’t matter to me).  If they were wearing short dresses, I may ask that they all wear similar colors, but I wouldn’t dictate a shoe they all have to buy.  For light blue dresses, I think silver or beige would be nice.

Properly, you get some discretion over the dress and only the dress. It is inappropriate to dictate shoes, which are a very personal thing in any case, or hair, makeup and jewelry for that matter. The farthest I’d go is to suggest a color  that most women already have in their wardrobes or can use again. With a long dress, I wouldn’t even do that.

For the upcoming wedding Im in, I was told to wear a specific color and a heel. I dont own shoes in that color (and I dont wear heels hardly ever), so I was a little annoyed to have an additional expense considering its a long dress, and I dont think anyone would be able to tell if I wore a different color. I was in another wedding recently, where I got to chose my dress and shoes- most considerate bride ever!

My friend made us wear the same shoes in a long dress. I spent $100 on shoes that I wore for 1 hour. They were so painful that I went barefoot for the entire reception. The scabs on my ankles just fell off today actually. Lol!!

I’m letting my girls pick their own damn shoes. Just match the wedding theme.

occasionlabdotcom :  What an awesome suggestion to have photographer watch out for shoes! This is my biggest concern with mismatched shoes, but it was only a concern for photos…could care less (to an extent ) for ceremony and reception. You think outside the box!
