I have 4 bridesmaids and 1 jr. bridesmaid in the wedding. The 4 adults are in a grape color dress by Mori Lee. The Jr. girl is in silver, to make her a bit different (she is 9). I went looking at tuxes today and the vests for the guys I cannot find an 100% exact match to the shade of purple but found one close. So do you think if they do not match exactly it will look odd? I also found a plact that can make vest to match the color but not sure if they can do it on this short notice.
My second thought would be to put the 4 adult groomsmen in silver (my colors are purple and silver). I have a jr. groomsmen i was going to put in silver to match the jr. girl but maybe I can put him in purple. this way they all tie in but then the adult groomsmen, being in silver, wont matter if they match the girls. Or would this look too weird? Are the men better in the purple?
Thoughts and suggestions please!

I think the silver would be great! I’m not matching my Bridesmaid or Best Man to Groomsmen either. I’m not a big matchy-matchy person 🙂

Firstly, those sound like beautiful colors together!
I would say get the groomsmen to go silver though. It would look a lot better to have all your colors incorporated into their attire than two different shades of one color which don’t necessarily look nice together. You chose silver and purple because they work nicely, so have them work nicely in every aspect 🙂
I’m not having my BMs and groomsmen exactly matching. My colors are champagne and black, with accents of white. The BMs will be in black (easy for them to find a style they like) with ivory or gold-ish flowers, the groomsmen in black tuxes with champagne vests and the same flowers as BMs in boutonierres, me in white obviously with black and white flowers and I’m thinking groom in black tux and black vest, with white boutonierre. So nobody is completely coordinating but the BMs and Groomsmen compliment eachother, me and my groom compliment eachother and overall we represent all the colors 🙂
Hopefully that helped?

I had this debate for a long time too! My bm dresses were davids apple red and there was a red at mens warehouse that was exactly the same, but i went for the platinum instead of the matchy look. I’d go for the purple/silver, than an almost matching purple if it is very obviously different.

@MissButterTart: that helps thank you!

would you then put the jr. groomsman in the purple since the jr. girl will be in silver?

I am not a fan of colored vests with tuxes. I think it’s starting to look dated. You would be perfectly fine in black or silver vests. You could match them with a pocket square or tie.

this is one of my peeves so i prob shouldnt be a person to respond lol. i hate hate hate when they arent an exact match. my girls are in AA eggplant so to avoid a color mismatch we are going with this look from Jos. A Bank for the guys. The flower girls/ring bearer will be in liac and the future hubs in silver.

Nope they don’t need to match. For my wedding we had the BM’s/JR Bridesmaid or Best Man in navy blue and the guys had black tuxes with silver vests ties.

@alicat2: That could actually be a pretty cute idea, it would look more balanced in pictures too 🙂

I agree with scadadle15 and just really dislike the matchy matchy look – it reminds me of prom. I plan to put our groomsmen in black vests/ties regardless of the bridesmaid dress color.
