Dolldancer –

I think i may know what you’re talking about. Is it similar to this? This is a pic from the Endless Diamond Embrace website. They use 1 large stone in the center (anywhere from 1/4 to 3/4 ct i think) and surround it with smaller stones. The smaller stones sit slightly above the large ones and it creates an illusion of 1 large stone.  I think it’s absolutely stunning!

I am actually in the SAME boat as you. My boyfriend and i have been together about 2 years and we are discussing engagements and rings, etc. My parents have offered us a family stone that I am very excited about. This is how i want it set!  Unfortunately, this company (Endless Diamond Embrace) will not set a customer’s stone in their settings. 🙁 booo.  So i would have to have it custom made.  I would imagine a jeweler could do that but my boyfriend and i don’t really know where to start.

hopefully this pic helps!  Let me know how you make out!

Do you mean a bridge setting like this?

And then have a halo around the center? I think that’s possible but I’m fairly certain it will have to be custom made.

@KendalSmale: That looks exactly like the underside of mine! Is that considered a bridge?

@soyjoy222:

I’m not sure if it that is consiered a bridge or not. I dont recall that term being used when discussing it with the designer but that doesn’t mean it isn’t. Mine is like that as well because I wanted my band to be able to sit flush with my e-ring and not have to jet out around the halo.

I’m a little late to the party but I’m having a complete bee kinda night and am looking at everything LOL.  I don’t know if you found what you are looking for, but I have seen non-halo bridge settings, and personally I didn’t care for them.  My SIL has one and I tried one on in a jewelry store.  I didn’t notice too much extra sparkle, and because of the way they’re set when viewed from the top (which most people will do) the center stone doesn’t really stand out amongst the setting…this isn’t a bad thing in itself but it does take away from the ‘dainty’ look you are going for.  I think with a halo, a thinner band looks fabulous.  I like the first ring you posted, but I personally don’t like an eternity band on an engagement ring…but that’s me.  Good luck with your search!!

My center diamond sits about 1.5mm above the halo.

I have a half carat princess center with a cushion halo. The cathedral is my favorite. At first I didn’t know that was what I had when I wore it. But I can’t stop staring at it. It’s so pretty and it sparkles like crazy!! I’m in love!!
