I saw that…who even knows what that means?!

I actually looked through some of the court documents online.  It looks like the landlord is really the one at fault…I don’t know how the judge isn’t forcing them to allow Bridgewaters to open!

I echo what everyone else is saying about this board– it’s been a huge support, and without it, I don’t know if I would have even found out about the lawsuit and ensuing drama in the first place!  I kinda think we should do a Bridgewaters brides meet-up!

That being said, it sounds like Bridgewaters is being pretty flexible in letting people out of their contracts.  My guess is that they’ll be even more willing after the events of yesterday.  They let me out of my May 26 contract last week, and aside from their initial vagueness regarding the likelihood of reopening (and failure to affirmatively disclose their situation in the first place!), I felt that they handled the situation pretty well, since they technically did not have to let us out yet.  I still haven’t gotten my deposit back from them, and don’t know when that will happen, so my tune may change.  If/when I get it back, I will definitely post here.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience,

@lawre178:  A class action is a pretty substantial endeavor.  It would involve someone officially retaining an attorney, and would probably take a significant amount of time.  Just my 2 cents…

@tba814:  What events of yesterday?  The new article posted today made me more hopeful because it looks like the judge is on the side of Bridgewaters?

Maybe we should all bombard the judge with e-mails! LOL!

@KrisNYC717:  I just wanted to clairfy– when I referred to the events of yesterday, I just meant that the adjournment just means that Bridgewaters will be uncertain of their ability to perform for a little longer, because who knows if the judge will even make a decision that day, or how long it will take to make the decision…

Hi all, late joining the party, as I was only forwarded the articles regarding Bridgewaters yesterday.  My wedding is also May holiday weekend.  I was told by Bridgewaters sales rep to wait until 2/11 when the next court date is set to see if a re-open date will be announced, but that I can get out of my contract given the circumstances.  Not sure what to do, and I’m probably running short on time as well…

Hi All,

My fiance and I were goiing to be married at Bridgewaters in October.  We found a new venue, and Bridgewaters told us all we would need to do to terminate our contract would be to send our point person an email.  We did so, she confirmed, but did say it will take some time to get our deposit back.  She was great, and seemed to understand our predicament.  Hopefully you will all hear good news on February 11 (we were told this would be THE day to find out about the venue).

Hey All,

Just wanted to update everyone.  I do have some back-up venues in mind, but I think I am going to wait until 2/11 (It’s only 4 days away) to find out what the status of Bridgewaters is.  So hopefully there will be good news then!  Anyone else waiting until the 11th before they ask to terminate their contract?

Did anyone hear from their point person today? We haven’t heard from ours, and we’re wondering about the results.

@wolfgangphoenix:

I heard from mine today, and unfortunately it is bad news.

The judge did not grant the injunction and they still don’t have a re-opening date.  My wedding is August 17, and she told me I should look into another venue because they don’t know when they will re-open.  She really didn’t have much more info than that.

I am just devastated.  I really thought the judge was on the side of Bridgewaters.

Sorry to hear. The unknowing might be the worst part (in my opinion). At least now you can move forward and plan with confidence. Private message me if you need some venue ideas. I was just in this predicament, and it all worked out.

Best wishes to all.

Hello Ladies,

I have been following this thread for some time now. I was a Twenty Four Fifth bride and then was relocated to Bridgewaters. After Sandy we were told by our point person that Bridgewaters was slowly reopening and followed the same up and down path you all have been on. About 3 weeks ago we were released from our contract and signed with a new venue. My fiancée has been calling and emailing 2 contacts trying to get answers about our refund process ever since, with out any luck. Does anyone have any information on when we can expect to get our deposits back? The outcome of Twenty Four Fifth/ Bridgewaters has left me with a lot of anxiety about the remaining planning and months until my wedding. I keep feeling like something else will go wrong after being let down by two venues. Bridgewaters really took away from my “wedding planning experience” and how happy this time was suppose to be. Thankfully my new venue is very supportive, organized and did their best to match our Twenty Four Fifth/ Bridgewaters contract. Thank you for sharing your stories, it has been very comforting to know my fiancée and I are not alone in this struggle.

Hi All,

So we’ve booked our new venue.  We are very excited about it, but still upset about what happened with Bridgewaters, as that was our first choice.  I still can’t believe all that is happening with them.  From the WebCivil site, it looks like the next court hearing isn’t until 4/17. So who knows when/if they will be open?!  I actually just sent a really nasty e-mail to the Howard Hughes Corporation.  I know it won’t mean anything to them, but it made me feel better to send it.

I’m so thankful I found this thread…it has been a support to know I’m not alone!

Good Morning,

Has anyone received any refund information? My fiancee and I have yet to hear from anyone at the Glazier Group, after emailing Mathew Glazier directly.

Thank you
