I had very bright lipstick, in medium dark red.  It was a pain durring our pictures, as I was constly rubbing it off of him, but by our first kiss, it had dried to the point where it didn’t rub off.

l0ubie:  They have plenty of lipsticks that won’t kiss off. You can even buy a few at the drug store. You simply apply the base color, and then place a clear “sealant” on top once the color dries. They work really well, and the better brands will also keep your lips from feeling dry.

You could also use a lip stain, and then place a balm or gloss over that. These options are great because you also won’t need to worry about re-application 🙂

l0ubie:  I used a lipstain with gloss over it. I did have to keep reapplying the gloss, but the stain stayed on very well & didn’t rub off on him. Just about every brand now has a lipstain, but the one I used was from grapeseed oil from a winery we had visited before the wedding- the color was called Zinfandel so I was sucker & got it & it’s amazing!

I had a pretty bright lipstick and it stuck to me all night. My MUA does a lot of weddings, so she made sure it was sealed well. The only part that transferred to him was the gloss top coat. She used make up forever for the lipstick, and it was great. I actually went to eat BBQ after the trial to give it a real test, and it survived ribs 🙂

l0ubie:  I wore bright pink lipstick (MAC Pink Nouveau) and it got him a little bit. It wasn’t a big deal or something that you really need to think about. It was actually kind of cute. Lol

I didn’t have any issue with it during the first kiss or pictures, but I got it on my dress! My ringbearer asked me a question and I bent down and leaned my head down- got it right across the top of my dress. No one noticed it later who didn’t see it happen though. The pictures looked amazing with the bright color. It was worth it.

Use a lip stain for the color and then a plain colorless balm/gloss over it to get your desired level of sheen. That’s my go to for wearing a red lip when I want one because it is a pain to rub lipstick off of my fance all day!

I was so worried about this beforehand and I found a thread on here with some suggestions. I went with the Revlon Colorstay Overtime lip stuff, in bright red, and it worked AMAZING. It had a clear gloss you can put over to make it shine. My makeup artist applied it around 12 and it lasted until the end of the night. I didn’t reapply once!

it’s a pain to get off at the end of the night, but it didn’t rub off on Darling Husband at all. It was only like $8 on sale. $10 regular price.

Whatever you end up going with, I recommend buying it before the wedding and trying it out on your FI! See if you can make it rub off, or how bad it is.

I wore a really deep red lipstick (Fall wedding) and I actually didn’t gloss over because, matte tends to stay on it’s own pretty well, and gloss will break down any of those “long wear, non transferable” lipsticks.

I used the MAC prep & Prime lip also, love it…! I didn’t even need to re touch up until after dinner 🙂
