I recently noticed that brilliant earth is selling moissanites under their gemstone collection. The pricing is much more expensive to what I’ve typically seen from Charles & Colvard and the naming convention does not follow the Classic, Forever Brilliant, or Forever One. Instead they have a super and super premium name.
Ive seen a Forever One 5mm Moissy for about $200 while at Brilliant Earth i see the super premium 5mm moissy for over $500!
Any reason for the huge difference in price, or know where they get their gems from if its not charles and colvard. Maybe Brilliant Earth makes the stones themselves?

shortcake182: no idea, but brilliant earth Jacks up the price of everything. They also do business with debeers, even though they claim to be ethical so ive lost faith in that brand. Mossioniteco uses recycled metals too, so you really aren’t getting anything other than the brilliant earth name. It is off patent so they could be making it., but I doubt it.

I’m pretty sure brilliant earth sells forever brilliant moissanite from Charles and colvard, or atleast they use to. It’s possible that since the patent has ran out, that they are buying from another vendor. Brilliant earth definitly has a large mark up on their moissanite and jewelry in general.

I will almost 100% guarantee they get them from C&C. While it is off patent, there is still going to be a learning curve for new manufacturers to grow and cut their own growth, and it’s still probably cheaper for most to by it from C&C, until another manufacturer can compete with pricing and be more consistent with cutting, etc. Of course I am aware of the eBay India moissies and so on but you can see the colour, cutting, and so on is very inconsistent in those and they are cheaper, not more expensive, than C&C.
Brilliant Earth just ends to be more expensive in general, especially for an online vendor. My local jewelers also jack up price of moissy, but they sure aren’t making it in the back room! I would guess the super and super premium matches with FB and F1.

RayKay: I 100% agree with you that it’s probably Charles and colvard moissanite they are selling and that the newer makers of moissanite probably havnt achieved that quality yet. But, I wonder how BE is allowed to sell it without mentioning c&c on their site? I thought that anyone that was a c&c vendor had to list it. But now I’m thinking that since the patent is up, maybe they don’t have to say where they got it now? I’m also wondering about Jtv.com, they sell moissanite and have for years, yet they never mention where it’s from. Seems strange to me!

They are not C&C, and they are not warrantied either [only their settings are] per the conversation I had with them via live chat this morning on the website. They could be neo moissanites. All the helpdesk said was that they’re sourced from labs in the US.
