Bringing dress overseas on honeymoon…am I a lunatic?

    Lol, that's a horrible idea.

Lots of work, but it will be worth it. Do it!

Let me explain.  I think it is an attention getting thing to do.

I have no opinion of you as I don’t know you.  I just think it’s a bad idea.  And I have  no desire to entertain a pissing match with anyone over dress.  I have better things to do.

I would do it. I think you would regret doing an entire overseas photoshoot without your dress since you don’t have very many good pictures of it from your wedding. I think arranging another local photo shoot just for the dressi is a waste since you already have one gifted to you. Take advantage of it!

Will you just be going to Germany your whole honeymoon or are you visiting other countries as well? Just being nosy LOL

I’m serious, please post tons of pictures after you come back. Can’t wait to see your dress again! LOL

If you’ve got the energy to set it up, then do it!  I’ve seen some amazing bridal pics that friends have done while abroad.  As many others have said, it takes a ton of planning (hair, makeup, transportation, timing..).  A roller luggage is a good idea, so you have a place to store and move around items for the photoshoot (mirror, brush, extra shoes, touch up makeup, jacket) to the various locations.  Maybe use the time difference to your advantage, you’ll be ready and looking fresh as a daisy by sunrise!

If you bring your dress and while you’re waiting in the gate area of the airport, make sure to talk to your husband really obviously about it being your honeymoon and you wanted better pictures with the dress, etc. You might find a kind business or first class traveler who doesn’t need his/her garment hook on the plane. Seriously, my friend had this happen when she was taking her dress for her destination wedding and she was able to hang her dress up through the flight. One less issue to think about? I know it sounds crazy, but hey. Worth a shot. Just let the flight attendants know it’s your dress so they know it’s there and can hold it for you after the plane has landed.

I personally wouldn’t want to carry it around with me. It sounds like a lot of work–especially with the trains. However, you sound excited about it and like you really want to do it. If you don’t mind carrying it around, then go for it.

So I had to carry my dress to my wedding in the Bahamas. While some airlines say they will hang up your garment bag, that was totally a lie. I had to stuff it in the overhead and haul it through 3 airports along with my other bags. It was a HUGE hassle. If you go this route, be advised you will be doing a lot of steaming when you get to your final destination.

Yeah honestly my dress (that I adored!) is just sitting in a box in my garage collecting dust— so I think you have very little to lose! You probably won’t wear it again after this, so go for it, have fun, and don’t worry what the haters say.

hickoryhills :  I vote YES!! Especially if you’re able to vacuum seal it and steam it once you arrive. I would be so sad if I didn’t have any full length photos of my dress, I spent a lot of time picking that thing out and I adored it! I hate carrying around extra luggage, so I would try to minimize the bulk as much as possible and maybe ship it home afterwards if it takes up a lot of space. But when will you get another chance to take photos wearing your wedding dress in Berlin?!? Sounds amazing!

Also, haters gonna hate. It’s their choice to be miserable!

    That dress is stunning!

I think you should go for it.

Could you have your dress shipped to where you’ll be staying and then have it shipped back home?
