i have been begging for a puppy for 2 years. We just got back from our honeymoon on Saturday night and have spent the week cleaning because we were going to go look for a puppy this weekend! I am beyond excited. HOWEVER, my sister called and needs me to pet sit her weenie dog this weekend. I am devestated to wait any longer. Her dog is very very friendly, 5 years old, and plays very well with other dogs. Would this be a problem? Should I just wait another week, or would it be okay to bring a puppy in with another dog here temporarily?
Just for fun, here is a dorky pic of my dog-niece

Plug- for going to rescue groups for the puppy NOT a pet store. Use the time to go on petfinders.com and see who needs a forever home

I would definitely wait another week. Even though you’re just puppy sitting, there can be territorial issues, not to mention the new puppy may be insecure entering and acclimating to a new home. Not to mention, you’ll want to spend as much time as possible with the new dog and watching it for accidents around the house. I would also plug for the rescue group-which you can still get a puppy through.

Can you go looking this weekend but not take home the dog until next weekend?

I’d go for it because I know there’s no way I could wait. Get some baby gates and an xpen so they can have some time apart if needed.
