I used to have a supervisor who brought her two kids in to the office routinely, and let them play tag in the open spaces and race up and down the aisles between cubes.  No one could do anything because she was the boss.  It was terrible, and incredibly unproductive.

I’d be directing the little one to their parent’s office

I’m a teacher, and one of my co-workers brought his daughter to work one day.  She couldn’t go to her own school because she had freaking pink eye.  Guess which school had a pink eye epidemic among the staff the following week???  Luckily, I was unaffected, but one teacher had it so bad, she had to take off a few days work because she couldn’t open her eye!  I mean, come on!  If your child can’t go to their own school because of an illness, why on earth would you spread it at your own school???

@Shosha1:  And to think, that assclown is teaching our youth!

We don’t have this issue in our office. Every once in a while someone will bring their kid in to visit before or after lunch (like if their spouse meets them out or something) but little Johnny only sticks around for a few minutes. We do participate in the dreaded “bring your snot nosed offspring to work day” (or at least that’s what I call it) and it’s the worst day of the year for me. I’m not sure what kind of life skills an accountant thinks they can teach their 6 year old but this event normally ends with half of the office sick and out for the remainder of the week. Seems pretty counterproductive if you ask me.

Someone did this today at our office!

Granted, the boy was cute but it was sort of annoying. It’s a woman that is taking an extended leave even though the kid is up and walking. She brings him in every week, even though she is not working here right now, and they run up and down the halls together and show off. It’s really freaking stupid.

A lady in my office brings her daughters (yes, plural!) in every morning during the summer. They come in their pj’s and sleep in the break room. They leave around noon when it is time for gymnastics class. We end up without a break room the entire summer.. ugh!

we had a kid in here: wearing GOD DAMN BELLS on his shoes. Grandma ran around saying “awww isn’t he just so cute, precious” NO, he’s annoying the effin’ shit out of me.

That sounds annoying  and is really unprofessional.

We have  a couple moms with babies but I love when they visit, it’s not often and they don’t stay long, it’s usually on the moms day off. It’s a fun break to see them lol.

I’m one of those horrendous people who just can’t stand children period, so I definitely get what you mean.

I work in the sex/porn industry as a merchandiser. I go to porn sets, etc. People bring their kid to PORN SETS. Where porn is being made. I’ve seen kids around during anal scenes, rim job scenes, “facial” scenes…all of it. It’s so fucked up. Like seriously, WTFH is smart about that. Not only is it super inappropriate for your 5 year old to be there, but it’s also super uncomfortable for the people DOING the porn. A woman last week refused to keep shooting until the kid was out of the room and earshot, because she said she didn’t want to expose herself to children. I agree. SO MANGLED.

It’s funny you posted this because one of our managers was preparing to give his admin a very stern talking to about some issues with her performance. She is overly sensitive and we know she will cry so he wanted to do it this afternoon so she could calm down over the weekend… well low and behold she took her kid to the doctor and brought her back with her!! We don’t allow kids in our office to begin with but this made me have a chuckle because he was like CRAP well I can’t do it now!!
