Bringing your own lipstick for bridal makeup?

Mine actually requested that I bring my own lipstick if I wanted, it makes sense for reapplication throughout the day to use one you own!

I brought my own lipstick.  Honestly I think many (most?) people do this.

fourthnoel :  I would definitely do this if I had a favorite lipstick! The trial is exactly that – a meeting to try out a few things and see what works and what doesn’t. Her job is to make you like your face.

Mine requested I bring my own lipstick so I could easily reapply if needed. I also brought my own mascara because the brushes that come with mascara are easier to use/better than the disposible ones they end up having to use with mascara.

I brought my own lipstick and mascara. Those are the two things that can’t be cleaned, so I wanted to make sure I didn’t get any contamination!

It’s absolutely normal! I have my own favourite lipstick that I’m bringing to trial, because it’s easier to show my MUA what shade I’m going for rather than explain, and if I’m not thrilled with our options I’m so wearing mine on my wedding. Also, if I choose one of her lipsticks, I will also buy it so that I can easily reapply it if needed.

That’s what I ended up doing. My life has been a search for the holy grail of the perfect lipstick shade.  Still seeking.

I trusted my MUA 100% and asked her recommendation. She said she really couldn’t do better than my current shade, so I just went with that.

My MUA also encouraged using lip color I owned if the shade worked. She asked if there was any of my own product in general I wanted her to use to make sure I was 100% satisfied.

fourthnoel :  I brought a lot of my own makeup just to make sure I was going to get the look I wanted. For sure bring your own ANYTHING if that’s what you want to wear on your wedding day. I basically hired the MUA only so I wouldn’t have to do it myself on the day.

I spent months searching for the “perfect lipstick”, I wanted a teracotta-y shade and nothing was quite right. For the trial, my makeup artist tried different lipsticks on us, and for the mums told us which lipstick to buy. For me, I found my own and just then brought it on the day.

I got 3 lip shades, I have been wearing them since forever. It was such a good thought because I don’t know there is some kind of satisfaction and obviously you can re touch anytime. You should keep some in your bag handy and use it whenever needed. 🙂howtodomakeupathome
