I hit my ring (pretty hard) against a column and bent it a couple years ago. Unfortunately the stone twisted so much that it could not be fixed. I ended up buying the same ring again from a different seller. (Its tanzanite in a very low 14k white gold setting) I took it to two jewelers who both said nothing could be done because the band could not be separated from the prongs. I would take your ring into a local jewel and have them look at it to make sure it can be fixed before you send it off. Also see if bluenile (just throwing the idea out, not sure they would let you do this) would reset your stone in an identical setting instead since it will be stronger than a repaired ring.

Oh I am so sorry that happened to you! 🙁 My ring is from Blue Nile also. They are very friendly and helpful, I would discuss any concerns with them and make sure that if the quality would be compromised, they would give it a new setting.

@AutumnElegance:  those heads are only soldered on to begin with, so they’ll probably remove it again and reattach it like they would when they first made it.  it’ll be fine.  i had the white gold head on my first ering replaced with a platinum one shortly after the wedding (after wearing it for more than three and a half years) because the white gold head broke a prong.  it was like new.  🙂

once I was leaving a friends house really late and was VERY tired and fell asleep on the couch. As I got in the car I COMPLETELY closed the door on my hand not realizing what I was doing. My ring finger was bleeding and MY DIAMOND WAS NO WHERE IN SIGHT. I started freaking out from the pain. I found my diamond under my car Thank God!!! But my setting was completely ruined. I took it to get fixed and seriously: it looks better than before! Good luck sweetie and Im sure it will work out! AND my ring saved all my fingers from being crushed
