I’m kind of new here but wanted to share the beginings of my fun bouquet project with you all!
I have seen so many posts about making a brooch bouquet and I am totally hooked. My Mom and I went antique’ing last weekend and got a good start on mine:
My dress is Ivory and has pearl and crystal beading on the belt. So we are going with the same theme in my bouquet. We decided, after my inability to make a decision to get this project started, that I was not excited about the idea of not having ANY flowers in my bouquet. We have decided to make a smaller, perhaps 6″ in diameter brooch bouquet, which will be surrounded by real flowers for the wedding day. This way I get my fresh flowers but I also get the keepsake of a brooch bouquet which could be passed through out my family!
So, okay, first trip shopping and we got these 8 stunners (the big one I am obsessed with, it will likely be the center piece) and spent $80. A little more than I had hoped (I wanted to be more around $5 or $6 per piece) but I splurged on the one big on $35 alone!
Since last weekend I have been ebay’ing – seriously dangerous that place is! I have made 6 successful bids and have picked up an additional 24 pieces for $100, now we’re talking! I’ll post pictures of my new finds once I receive them all! So right now I have 32 pieces – we figured I maybe need 40 pieces in total…close!
I am meeting with my florist soon and will discuss with them how to best make it so it will accomodate real flowers too! I am so super excited about this! I would love to think that a daughter, daughter in law or niece could someday carry a piece of my bouquet with them on their wedding day! I’ll keep you posted on my progress!

I received some more of my ebay finds in the mail…here is what my brooch collection currently looks like:
This is about $100 of brooches. Now keep in mind, I am doing all “clear” which I think are pricier. And the one on the upper right hand corner was $35 alone (I know I know – but I LOVED it).
I have three more shipments in the mail! Cant wait!

I was watching “say yes to the dress” and the woman who married the former Yankee player carried one of these and I thought it was so beautiful. Who knew they were so popular!!

I am doing the same, I found a thrift store that was selling them at $.99 a piece! I just keep looking around a pick up a few here and there, its coming out so awesome! Good luck, I am sure it will be beyond beautiful!

This is going to look awesome. I’m doing 6 brooch bouquets and it has been a lot of work (see photos). I have been collecting for a few weeks now and I just want it to be finished ASAP!
How are ya’ll doing yours? a Base or just wire stems? I am trying to figure out the best way. HELP!

@FutureMrsLumsden: What did you end up using as your base? And can I see pictures of your progress? I am using flowers as my base but I think it looks lop-sided. So I am looking for ideas

Do you have any pictures of the final product with the flowers? Love this idea!

Your collection is looking great!!
I tried to see how well this would work if I ordered my brooches from china…so I took a ~$14 “chance”
Ordered 1 – 12piece lot of these: http://www.dhgate.com/silver-rhinestone-crystal-cream-pearl-flower/p-ff8080813c8b0e5b013d177212241e68.html
I got them yesterday (took 2 wks) and they are packaged so nicely (ready to sell!)…kind of makes me consider going into my own stateside brooch selling business haha
Most recent photo is of one of the brooches.
Since these came in a decent time and for a fraction of what it would cost ~$1 trying to collect them around town…I msged the seller if they would sell me more of a variety pack versus selling only 1 design. But this is a great alternative if you have time to wait for them to ship!

here is a picture of my finished bouquet. I used 2 bushels of hydranga for my filler.
