I think when done well they can be beautiful. But some just look way too busy for my liking.

@BridieBea:  I like brooch bouquets. Sometimes they could use a bit of work, but I also think they can be extremely well-done. I had a brooch bouquet myself because I have terrible allergies and I didn’t want to carry real flowers and be a big, red, puffy, watery, sneezy mess on my wedding day. This is my brooch bouquet. I’d love to know what people think of it. I loved it, my husband loved it, and our friends and family loved it, and that’s what matters to me :).

I am doing a bouquet of fresh flowers with brooches incorporated throughout. That way there is a touch of sparkle, but also has the softness of fresh flowers. So far I have about 13 brooches. I think a few friends and family members might have some more for me, but I don’t want too many in it.

Here’s what I have so far for brooches. I will add them to fresh garden roses and hydrangeas (wanted Peonies, but they aren’t in season for March).

They can definitely be very beautiful if done well. And they make a great souvenir from your wedding! I think I’ll use real flowers, but I do think they look cool. They give a more vintagey vibe, so if someone is having that style wedding then I think it looks especially fitting.

    @ScottishMrs:  It’s beautiful! I love the mix-match look 🙂

I think brooch boquets are gorgeous, but I probably wouldn’t have the time or patience. Although if anyone would like to make me one… Send it to New Zealand, with love! Haha.

I think brooch bouquets ar the greatest thing I’ve ever seen! And I don’t care if people think they are tacky.

I’m a burlesque artist and pin up so am pretty over the top in real life and adore sparklies. Anyone who knows me would NOT be expecting subtle.

Also am in my 2nd year of floristry training and I still think they are great! I will use real flowers for otther decorations but my bouquet will definately be a brooch one using many of the brooches I inherited from SO mum when she passed.

My bridesmaids will be carrying pearl bouquets.

I love that I will be able to keep my bouquet forever.

Real flowers are also so incredibly beautiful, but for me, more is more! 😛

@littlemisssally:  Thanks! That’s one of my favourite things about it. Themed ones are usually gorgeous, but I’m really expressive and colourful IRL–I like to think I’m fun too–and I wanted my brooch bouquet to really represent me and my personality. I wish I could send you one, but I bet it’d cost an arm and a leg to ship it all the way to NZ! 🙂

@HappySky7:  you make good points about the tacky thing. and I don’t think they are tacky, I just don’t like them – so the new wording of the poll works better now! I’m usually impressed at how everyone is so tactful on these boards.

but hey, sometimes people need to rant, and the internet is a good place for that. I’m sick of my grandma telling me about my cousin’s brooch bouquet and asking if I want to use her brooches in my bouquet. NO I DON’T. I DON’T WANT A BROOCH BOUQUET. ahhhh…. that felt good.

@polkadotgirl:  lol oh Grandma. Yes, I like how everyone is generally very tactful and nice on here. I hate to see when these take a nasty turn. I don’t think anyone intended to go out of their way to hurt feeling here. I’m just saying, tread carefully with the “t” word on a board full of women in bride mode.

@HappySky7:  I didn’t use the word tacky, but if someone thinks they’re tacky, why can’t they say so? That’s not gonna change the mind of a bride having them, is it?

I kinda love brooch bouquets. I think they’re so unique and beautiful. There are some not-as-well done ones out there, but even those are so nice. I’d love one for myself and am hunting around for the brooches. We’ll see!

    Oops, I voted wrong.

I thought you meant a brooch on the stems/wrapping part of the flowers, not brooches INSTEAD of flowers.

Please take my neutral vote and mentally re-cast it towards a big ole NAY.

I’m having a silk flower + brooch bouquet but I’m getting a professional (and ex-florist) to make them. No one I know in Australia has ever had them and I do like being a little bit different from the normal, and not having everything that 1 million other girls have already done before me.

Not to mention when I realised the ‘average’ cost of flowers, for just one day… seemed way too exorbitant.

I’m having a button bouquet. I do like brooch bouquets. I don’t like flowers.
