Hi everyone! I have a big dilemma here! I have winter wedding in 2014, and we found venue, which suits us perfect. But I need ceremony space! We not crazy about church ceremony. I feel wrong marrying in church, cause I am not religious. I love outdoor ceremonies, but in winter it’s obviously impossible. So I was trying to find romantic, beautiful indoor location. And it’s a disaster!!! Nothing! The only so far I would like to check is New York transit museum. I know its not romantic, but at least it has something special ( me and my fiancé met in manhattan, I used to live in brooklyn and he is from Long Island, so transit museum represents it a little). I don’t want hotel unless its super beautiful, I don’t want restaurant unless its super romantic and has views or so… I checked all websites, places I like ( like brooklyn museum or the river cafe) require more people, or they wouldn’t do just ceremony. I even checked on homeaway.com for houses, may be like a mansion like, but all of them too smal( I will have 150 people). I cannot do ceremony out of brooklyn, cause people coming from diff states, and I prefer them not to drive from place to place…. HELP!!! Internet is not showing me those secret perfect places!!! I need actual people’s knowlage here!!!! We will consider having cocktail hour at ceremony place as well, if it helps. We open to any suggestions!!!

Check out the Brooklyn Historical Society – that is a beautiful building but it’s been closed for renovation the past year (i think it should be open in time for yours though)
Also The Old Stone House (though I don’t know how many people it can accommodate): http://theoldstonehouse.org/
We didn’t go with it, but Galapogas is a really cool space. www.galapagosartspace.com
There’s also Roulette – which is a restored old theater, that could be a cool space.
Another place I’ve heard mentioned is the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture, but I don’t know how it looks or much about it.

Where in Brooklyn is your reception? This would help a lot — depending on your location, some Manhattan locations would be closer than what I’ll recommend in Brooklyn.
But in BK: Are there indoors ceremony locations at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens or other parts of Prospect Park? Gowanus has a lot of amazing event spaces — as does DUMBO (Powerhouse Arena, I second Galapagos, you might even want to contact Two Trees realty because there are a lot of post-Sandy open areas [like the old Bubby’s] that are empty and perfect by 2014) — that might accommodate just a ceremony.
Location would help – thanks!

@futuremrscrawford: the reception is in sheapshead bay. And we really want ceremony in brooklyn. brooklyn botanical garden does ceremonies only in mornings so they still can operate during normal working hours:((( (and we dont want any time gaps between, cause guests from manhattan and long island will not have where to go.) Prospect park has couple indoors but they are for receptions, I still will ask them personally, but least likely they will do ceremony only… but the other choices you wrote about sounds interesting, ill definitely research them! Thank u!
